creating video files, VSPro x4 text enhance prob

Hello I am fairly new to editing in general, so I hope I am able to explain my situation well enough. I am interested in saving my projects for both uploading to the web and for storing on my hard drive. But Wow!! I'm having some issues

I get by ok with the actual editing part of the VS 4 program. However, I am really struggling to figure out how to create the files in the most efficient format that would balance both quality/file size. I use two HD cams that record in the mp-4 format with h.264 compression 29.97fps. One is a Sanyo Xacti, the other A Kodak Playful. I like to record with the 720p/30 setting, and would prefer to retain the same frame resolution when I create the finished projects. Also these cams record at a rate of about 9000 kbps or so, but would like the finished project to be reduced to about half of that or maybe even less.

OK, so to this point I have experimented in saving my finished project to several different formats. And based on my first impressions, the AVI format looks best (when selecting ffdshow and h264 compression). Only there's a problem...the audio is out of sync. About 1-2 seconds ahead of the video I have tried several times always with the same result. If I instead select xvid or h263 or h263+ as an alternative to h264, then everthing seems fine. Just not nearly as pleased with the visual quality when I do it in that way. I wonder, am I overlooking something obvious? I really need help on this. I have also tried creating a movie template with these parameters, as well as just going into the create custom file option and selecting AVI. Can't seem to solve the audio-video sync with h264 as the compression, no matter what I try.

Oh, and now that I've mentioned "Creating Movie Templates" I have another question dedicated just to that...Sorry

Why is it that when I save my project using my newly created template, the result is that I end up with several short saved files (portions of the complete project) instead of one single and complete file of my project? Have tried with both an AVI template in h264, as well as a WMV template. Doesn't happen when I don't use a template.

I would be so grateful as to borrow the knowledge of those who frequent this forum. Thanks,

Alina

This is an Admin message, not relating to the substance of your problem. Please note that several of the words in your message appear to have a hyperlink inserted. When the mouse is hovered over them a text box appears, headed 'Text Enhance', but containing advertisements. Your message otherwise seems genuine, so I googled 'text enhance' and found it is well known spam/malware, and it would appear your browser is infected with it. Please read this advice on how to remove it from whatever browser you use: http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-text-enhance/

I have tried removing the words from your msg and replacing them with plain text, but without success.

Hi Ken
I honestly did not even know what "text enhance" was before reading your response my post. I just finished googling it. If my messages to this forum are actually producing hyper links in them as you say, well I can assure you it's without my knowledge or consent. It saddens me that I came here for help, but might be kicked out before anyone has a chance to do so. Of course if what you say is true, then obviously you have every right to do so, and I would respect that decision.

From what I've just read about text enhance, I have learned it's usually a malware type of program or extension on one's system or browser. If there is something that i'm not aware of installed on my computer that is causing this to happen then I do apologize. But this is the first time it's been brought to my attention, and I can't find anything suspicious on my computer. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem when viewing my messages, or has any advice to help me fix this.I don't see any ads when hovering over my own post...or those of other members.

Ken, have you ever seen this in anyone else's messages other than mine? if this is still a problem, I will no longer use this (my home) computer on this forum. If you would like to delete this conversation, I will try to re-post my original question using my phone. If there is any advice to fix the text enhance thing please let me know... Thanks again,

Alina

I'm not seeing any problems with your posts here in the UK using Google Chrome - Ken is in New Zealand - so either it has been cured or it only happens in certain countries with certain browsers.

Let's see if someone can solve your problem with video making - then we'll tidy up the posts.

Sorry, but I checked it in Chrome, Firefox and IE, and all displayed it. I also checked my own versions of those and they did not contain the add-on, so I assumed it came from Alina's. Have you checked the link I gave above for eradicating it from the above three browsers?

Hi

Regarding the video problems

Can you give more details / full details of your video files.
Right click the original file in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
Do this for both types.

You mention h264 so i guess the frame size would be 1920 x 1080.
------------------------
For the internet 1280 x 720 seems a standard,
Try converting your original files to Share Upload to web, the option is limited to a time duration, you may have to use the Make Movie templates Manager to create a similar template.

------------------------

Using your original video files, is the option Share Create Video File--same as first clip available?
This will render the project using the original files properties.

Just back on my own original comment, this is what I see -- though only two words are now hyperlinked (marked with red arrows). The word 'now' highlighted in yellow was originally also hyperlinked, but is no longer...

I just took that screen shot a minute before I posted it. And when I click on Edit on the original post, I see only text -- as I do when I copy the text into either Word or Notepad. However, in word, the text appears against a grey background, which is unusual.

Ken, if you're the only one seeing the "text enhance" then it could that the problem is on your end. Because I do not see it on my end.. using all 4 browsers.

Thanks to everyone for your input regarding "text enhance". And just a warning; I am writing this response using my home computer, aka the suspicious one. So let me know how it looks. I followed the instructions in the link provided by Ken, and everything checks out fine. I have found nothing suspicious at all. I use firefox exclusively. I have made sure all cookies history etc. were cleared. I checked the extensions folder, add-ons folder, as well as the list of installed programs on my computer via the "add remove programs" folder. Everything is in order and as it should be.

To Abiel; The same thought crossed my mind, in that the problem might be on Ken's end. But because I'm not very tech-savvy, I didn't want to bring that point up myself.
***Can you guys please let me know if this matter has been resolved.***

To BrianCee, and lata...
I would love to talk more about my editing questions, but can't help feeling that this text enhance thing has taken over the conversation for now. And my mind is still in defense mode. So if it's ok, I will soon follow up with the information you requested regarding the details of my video files.

Thanks,
Alina

I never saw any "text enhance" in your original post (and I looked at it at the time Ken posted) or in this one. I also believe it was on Ken's end as nobody else saw it.

I accept that the fickle finger inevitably points in my direction. The only problem with that is that Text Enhance apparently embeds itself as an extension in the browser, which is easily removed. But none of my browsers shows it. I have also eliminated all cookies and erased the history in Firefox, just as an experiment, and yet I still see the text enhanced words in the original post, but nowhere else. Why am I not seeing it elsewhere???

Moreover, my very up to date Nortons 360 v.5 shows no malware or other infection...
