I can't seem to trim a clip in the overlay track. When I'm scrubbing through it the F3 and F4 keys will not work. This is a clip that I have already used Multi-trim to create.
Thanks,
Wayne

True you can't actually cut it - but you can shorten it very easy - click on the clip in the overlay track so that it has the yellow lines all round it - note that the lines each end are thicker than the ones at top and bottom. Move your cursor over one of the end yellow bars, it will change to a two headed arrow .press and hold down the left mouse key and slide right if you are at the beginning of the clip or left if you are at the end to the point where you want the clip to start/end. If you want multi-parts from a video in the overlay track just put the clip into the overlay track multiple times and trim each one as required. You can also use this procedure in the main video track.
If you trim a bit to much you can undo by the trim by hovering over the end trim bars and moving back again

Re: trimming a clip in an overlay track
Hi Wayne
The bar under the preview screen is muti functional in that it can control different elements depending on what you are editing.
The bar shows the Mark-in and Mark - out set by F3 and F4
When you work in the overlay track F3 and F4 controls the effect set under the Attributes Tab, showing under the library. (Directions and Styles)
It does not control cutting or trimming the frames.
If you wish to remove frames, either use the scissors to cut the clip then delete, or drag the yellow trim handles seen at the end of clips
Please view my Guide, it was made using VS12 so some of the colours may have changed, but should be relevant for later versions.
