640 x 360 is 16:9 ratio, but the frame size is small and low quality not HD.
When I create a video for the internet and need 16:9 widescreen I use 1280 x 720-H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps

You must have your own reasons in using 640 x 360?
Hi Lata,
Firstly thank you so much for taking time to help me.

640 X 360 - 16:9 - 5000 Kbps - MPEG 4 - H.264 is the the resolution YouTube recommends for HQ 360P video.

Here's the link to their official page about resolution settings.
http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/s ... e=guide.cs

I thought it would be wise to follow their recommended settings for 360P.

Hi

Thanks for the explanation.

A video of 640 x 360 is indeed 16:9 aspect ratio, but viewing on a standard monitor at 72 DPI will show the video at approx 9 inches wide in order to display full quality. If you view at full screen then the quality will reduce.

You tube also recommend other sizes 640 x 360 is one of the smallest. again 1280 x 720 is the one I would use.
You are not confined to using Mpeg4 Supported YouTube formats

The choice you make should take into account the properties of your original video files.
Other formats may well give 644 x 360 x 5000

Hay You..:) Thanks for dropping in..!

1. I shall shed the light on that statement - the Original Video that I use In the timeline is " drum roll please " ( Avi 640 X 360 ), I know your not going to try and convince me to make a 720P video out of it :)

2. I can't re-shoot the scene because the cabinet used in the clip has been dismantled.

3. Again you are correct, other formats are infact available as uploads to YouTube, however this is YouTube's recommended Upload format for the highest quality 360P video due to their compression routine " 5000 Kbps - MPEG 4 - H.264 "

4. What I am working on now is finding an encoder plugin for VideoStudio X5 that will support YouTube's recommendation...! it will be solved when I can find an AVC Encoder like Sony Movie studio uses, unfortunatly for me the GPL version of it X.264 is a command line encoder that wont plug in - or so I have read. Xvid for Avi plugs in but is so complicated it will take me more time to research then I have left on my trial of VideoStudio X5.

Anyways thanks for trying, you have done more then your fair share to help me. Thank you...!

I am limited to Using the baseline H.264 max bit rate of 2000 for a 640 X 360 Video and YouTube Recommends 5000 which is available in the High H.264, But the High end H.264 does not have a native selectable size of 640 X 360 and does not allow a user to define a size ( It is greyed out ) - Is there any possible way to improve this with different codecs or mods-Plugins ???

Thanks in advance for Possibilities if there are any..!

Youtube recommends 5000kbps for .h264 640x360 ???

this is a higher effective bitrate (bits/pixel/frame) than the maximum burst rate available for bluray and would be basically lossless. for that resolution you would need no more than 1000kbps to have amazing quality video. 500kbps would be sufficient with double pass.

Hay flagpole...

I'm in no position to argue Kbps with anyone, however I did make 2 videos and uploaded them - the links are a couple post back. 1 at 2000 and the other at 5000 and the 5000 Kbps is closer in appearance to the original video after uploading to YouTube.

Apparently YouTube compresses the bejesses out of the uploads.

Thanks for responding thought..!

it does. which is why, IMHO there is no need to go berserk with the bandwidth of your uploads.

The settings you use are determined by the original video files properties.

However for You Tube if you use Share Upload to Web-YouTube HD this is what I see.

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

Using Make Movie Templates Manager I can create similar templates, not only to MP4 but other codecs.

I am SO glad I found this thread! I've been going nuts trying to figure this out. I had no familiarity with Make Movie Templates Manager.

I found that by creating a new template and specifying H.264 MAIN as Video Type under the Compression tab, I was able to make a template for 1280x720, 30fps, 9000kbps, 192k audio, etc.

Thank you and those in this thread for all the good info.

Some days you are the windshield, some days the bug. Finding out this information helps make me the Windshield on this day. :)

For HD gaming videos they recommend 1280x720 at 8000 to 9000kbps, I believe. That's what many folks have been uploading on their gaming channels. 192kbps audio too. I guess HD means HD. :)

With X4 I have had troubles with getting all main formats (WMV at 1280x720 and 1920x1080, MP4 at 1280x720 and 1920x1080) properly recognized at 9000 so I tried 8000 and that worked much better. So, with those formats and resolution, 8000kbps and 192k audio, I seem to be good on both the PC side and the YouTube upload side.

The more kbps you use, the more it gives YouTube to process when it converts it to it's native video format, which I don't think retains the same kbps rate you send it. But I could be wrong on that - I'm just not 100% sure that is always the case.
