VideoStudio X5 Codecs - Are there Upgrades ? Mods ?

Post by Mr Mike »

Hello all...
I am limited to Using the baseline H.264 max bit rate of 2000 for a 640 X 360 Video and YouTube Recommends 5000 which is available in the High H.264, But the High end H.264 does not have a native selectable size of 640 X 360 and does not allow a user to define a size ( It is greyed out ) - Is there any possible way to improve this with different codecs or mods-Plugins ???

Thanks in advance for Possibilities if there are any..!

Hi

The settings you use are determined by the original video files properties.

However for You Tube if you use Share Upload to Web-YouTube HD this is what I see.

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

Using Make Movie Templates Manager I can create similar templates, not only to MP4 but other codecs.

If you need 640x360, then you could use Quicktime MOV, MPEG-4 Visual. Youtube will convert that to h.264.

You can also upload WMV. You will need to create a custom preset.

( Lata )Thanks for the reply, I am familiar with the movie template manager and have failed to find a setting that has or I can choose the size video needed, I was hoping that it would be based on the current loaded video - was trying to get MPEG-4 H.264 5000 Kbps 24 bit, 640 X 360 :( I have not found a way to do this...
Thanks for looking however, much appreciated.

Mr Mike,

One reason you might get an access denied error message when you try to add or edit a WMV profile is because you are not logged in as an Administrator.

Hello All.

I downloaded Sony Movie Studio 11, the $99.00 Version.

I have never Used the Program - in under 5 minuts I was able to created & upload an mp4 - @ 5000 kbs 360P ONLY video.
See photo below for settings used, and if you would please, view the clips

Clip Using Sony 360p 5mg clip http://youtu.be/iZ0TFUK_07o.
Video Studio X5 360p 2mg clip http://youtu.be/jD_PjnYkEfU.

Both the clips were made using the same 9 second original, 640 X 360 178meg .avi.

The clip made using Corel VideoStudio X5, mp4 - @ 2000 kbs ( 2000 kbs is max in VS X5 ? ) 360P ONLY video. and the only thing I can spot thats different between the 2 programs
is the Sony Movie studio Says Format " AVC " and VideoStudio says Encoder " ULEAD mpg-4 vio Driver " --> is it possible to get the AVC format in to VideoStudio ?????????

There is a big color difference between the videos, the higher bit rate Sony Movie Studio has the " deep red color " I need for my terminator scanning clip and the video is clearer as well.
I would really Like to achieve the same results using Corel VideoStudio - if at all possible because I already own several other Corel products.

Thanks Heaps for the help Mike S.

The "Sony AVC" is a proprietary codec that you can't use with other products. You need to increase the bitrates with Corel's AVC codec.

There's a setting in Preferences on the Edit tab, "Apply color Filter" NTSC or PAL. Clear that checkmark. That reduces the brightness of strong colors so the colors meet NTSC or PAL TV standards. I'm not sure if that applies to video, but know that it applies to color boards.

Right under that option is another option: Resampling quality. Change that to best.

It wont let me Increase the bit rate past 2000 Kbs - in the movie template manager --> Mpeg -4 --> Compression baseline H.264 the max is 2000, I can go higher in the other 2
H.264 Main and H.264 High but then I cant use 640 X 360 as the video size :(

Thanks for the help thou ! Much appreciated.

In X5 the new WebM format is an available format for sharing. You can upload that to YouTube.

Another format that seems to produce nice results on Youtube is Xvid.

You need to install the Xvid codec for your platform: http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html

In VideoStudio you share to a custom AVI format where Xvid is the video format you select on the AVI tab. For "configure," a quantizer setting of around 1.4 for 640x360 gives approximately 5000 kbps.

Hi Mr Mike

I have no problems in setting these properties when using the Make Movie Templates manager.
I have to say that setting the Compression tab first will effect what is available under the General Tab, and indeed changing some properties under the general tab will affect the Compression tab.

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 640 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 4000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

Try This
1 / Settings Make Movie Templates Manager
2 / New
3 / File Format--MPEG-4 Files--Give the template a name--OK
4 / Compression Tab
5 / Video Type --H-264 Main or Baseline
6 / General Tab
7 / Frame Rate--29. 97, i assume that is what you require
8 / Frame Type - Frame Based for internet use
9 / Frame Size - 640 x 480 is available
10 / Compression Tab-Max 4000 available with this frame size

Ok so you should have no problems, if you cannot do the above, try re-installing the program.

I assume you are using X5 and not X4
------------------------------------------------------
Windows Media Custom Templates

There are issues with creating these, they are associated with your PC (Windows 7) and WMV.
It is not a Video Studio problem
It is something to do with "user permissions" if the memory serves me correctly, even though you are running as admin.
I think you have to find the WMV template folder and set its permissions otherwise the computer will not allow you updating this folder

Do a search of the forum
If I find the post i will let you know!

Hi Lata, Thank you so much for taking time to try and help, every thing with the template manager is as you said except - the single most importaint thing...! please see if you can pick 640 X 360 @ 4000 Kbps instead of 640 X 480 for the frame size on your end - , yes I am using X5, My apologies I should have clarified that.
lata wrote: There are issues with creating these, they are associated with your PC (Windows 7) and WMV.
Your right problem solved..! even if your admin on Vista you have to turn off ( UAC ) user account control - make your changes to the WMV template then turn UAC back on to help keep your computer protected from rogue programs running with out permission, GOOD CALL..!

Hi

640 x 360 is 16:9 ratio, but the frame size is small and low quality not HD.
When I create a video for the internet and need 16:9 widescreen I use 1280 x 720-H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps

You must have your own reasons in using 640 x 360??

I have to say that all frame sizes 640 x 360 are achieved by User Defined, they are not a standard size.

The first one here is the only one that gives a standard option for 640 x 360 but limited to a data rate of 2000max

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 640 x 360, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Baseline Profile Video: 2000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

-----------------------------------

If I use H.264 Main I can use 5000Max but not 640 x 360

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 5000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

----------------------------------

I can use Quicktime / Mpeg 4 Visual, user Defined to set frame size

QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 640 x 360, 30 fps
Frame-based
MPEG 4 Visual
100% Quality, 15 Key Frame Rate
None, 8.000 KHz, 8 bits, Mono

--------------------------------

and
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 640 x 360, 30 fps
Frame-based
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1
PCM, 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

you may not have Microsoft MPEG-4, not sure where this came from?

-------------------------

Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 640 x 360, 30 fps
Frame-based
XviD MPEG-4 Codec
PCM, 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
