I know I have read about this in the past but it never applied to me so I didn't pay much attention.
But .... I had to reformat my PC recently and had the tedious task of installing everything from the Operating System back up to such things as Video Studio.
I originally bought a boxed version of Video Studio 7 and then bought the download version of Studio 8. At that point, I had versions 7 and 8 on my PC and it was working so I left it (ie didn't uninstall version 7).
This time round, I thought I'd just go straight for Video Studio 8 and bypass installing version 7. I put the Version 7 disk in when it asked and it went straight for installing version 8.
The application works fine but .... you guessed it, I am missing all my library files.
Can someone tell me the best way to get them back. Should I now uninstall 8, install 7 then re-install 8 (ie the way it was originally)? Or is there a way of getting all the library files straight into my version 8 installation? I looked on the version 7 disk and there isn't simply a Samples directory - it's all stashed away in .cab files.
As I said at the start - I have seen this posting before but never paid any attention to it as it didn't apply to me at the time.
Any answers (including "try reading this post") would be appreciated.
Lost Library Files

Without knowing which library files you require, and as the files are inaccessible until you install the program. I think you will have to start from scratch.
Uninstall 8
Reinstall 7 then upgrade to 8.
But I did not think that kept the Vs 7 library????????
That may be the quickest solution.
I must admit the sample folders for VS 7 are better than most.
Once you have installed VS 7 copy the sample / library / menu files to your hard drive.(just in case)
If you had no problems running 7 and 8 together, why change?
