X4 Performance - Start Up + Organiser

Post by Quofiend »

Does anyone have any comments on performance of X4 in particular the OPEN UP/STARTUP times and on the Organiser/Tag recognition capabilities ?

PSP X3 takes 15 to 20 seconds on my Intel 2.2Ghz i7, 8Gb Ram machine. Nvideo Gt555m. Its a fast machine but not for PSP. .. so so slow.... and that 10 seconds of 'wait mode' once the prog opens continues to frustrate the hell out of me. You know... that screen where if you click the mouse then X3 goes into "not respinding" mode... and eventually comes back ready to go.
I also fail to get X3 to recognise the tags I have on my pics... or build a catalogue accurately from teh existing tags.. it seems incapable.

So......HAS ANY OF THIS IMPROVED IN X4 ?

FYI
PSP7 browser is ready to go in 3 seconds.
Adobe Premier Pro takes less than 5 seconds to load a project and be ready to roll, but PSP continues to be so appaling and slow. I actually use my old PSP7 to browser. Far superior to the X3 Organiser. (and what a mis named programme that is... it organises nothing... it barely recongises Tags in files.. completely random in my view.. as per previous post

X3 has been the laughing stock of most PSP releases to date. Even at it's most stable it's still not very good.

Yes they have improved in X4. But not for everyone.

Most people experience faster startup times. Those that don't might want to either turn off the new Scratch Disk feature or point the scratch disk to a second harddrive (needs to be directly connected to the computer, either inside the computer or connected via e-sata or firewire. PSP won't recognize external harddrives connected via USB for the scratch disk).

I understanding tagging has improved in X4. Though I don't use it myself so I'm only going off of what I've heard. It never hurts to download the trial.

Starting X2 on my computer : 6 seconds and I'm able to work.
But I have already openend the program during this session and I think it is faster when already opened one time.

Starting X4 on the same computer : 20 seconds before I'm able to work.
It was the first time I opened the program during this session.
I closed X4 and opened it again : now, 10 seconds before I'm able to work.

Time varies if it is the first time or not.

Did not tested the Organizer.

I think that best to answer this is to just download and use the trial of PSP X4, you can download the full working trial by going to http://pnoy.me/coreltrials

Thanks all.. I will download the trial... but I'm not expecting too much based on the entries to date. I'm also extremely unsure about how you can run multiple releases on one machine.... i know its claimed to be OK, but no other software I have allows this. I assume because they use comon registry entries, directories, work areas, pointers, etc.... It seems PSP doesnt. Strange. Oh well.. will give it a try.
