[SUGGESTION] Lock/Read-only
I'm still looking for a way to lock a version of an image so no changes can be made without unlocking (or creating another version).

Yup, that would be nice.
Of course, you could set the XMP read only, but that would prevent any edits, not just on a specific version.
cheers

Re: [SUGGESTION] Lock/Read-only
isnt the raw file read only : you can make a new version and go back to the default settings.

I think the intention is different.Gerard2 wrote:isnt the raw file read only : you can make a new version and go back to the default settings.
Making sure that a specific group of settings is not accidentally modified.

Yep. Ever touched a B5 processed RAW with ASP? Image or Version Lock would be great help ...afx wrote:Making sure that a specific group of settings is not accidentally modified.

That is how I read the request. It's a good idea.afx wrote:I think the intention is different.Gerard2 wrote:isnt the raw file read only : you can make a new version and go back to the default settings.

The RAW files are not read-only in the file system unless you set the flag. ASP simply does not write to the file.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Lock/Read-only
lathsspel comment is different and important....
Given the design for ASP to use the same xmp, it should have had a migration path that kept the B5 settings isolated and automatically created a new segment in the file that was for ASP. It's probably a bit late for most of us to add that feature but it could be a part of the same process ..
... this is the locking of segments of the xmp so that one or more versions are locked ( similar to a colour tag or a star rating ) so ASP would not touch them.
It still leaves them vulnerable to a B5 edit but a change to obsolescent software would be too much to expect

Re: [SUGGESTION] Lock/Read-only
Good suggestion.
Also: ever tried to work on a JPG or TIFF and save the result OVER the original???
Settings on the original are now used on that copy! Weird results are guaranteed
. "The end" for non-destructive editing if you ever do that.
