All video data is compressed, also DV...Your 550 uses a low complexity (baseline@L5.0 H264 profile), high bitrate compressor. Because of the lack of a dedicated HW compressor and limited processing resources, DSLR's cannot handle high profile (complex) compression. This doen't mean that the quality is inferior, but it does mean that you get a format which is not optimal for further use as HD video for e.g. BD creation. So "passthrough" for this format is not optimal and thus not available as default in NLE's. Further on I don't understand your problem. Several times I used .mov files to convert from or to avchd/bd. I asked a friend to send me a file from his 550. Unfortunarely it was a fullHD. not 1280x720. But as expected no problems in VS. Hereunder you can find the mediainfo compaired for a 50p H264 fullHD creation in VSX4 out of his file.

Hi David

Can you make a sample available for download, there is 4Shared that some posters have used.

I will try importing to Video Studio.

The camera came with some software , have you installed this on your pc?

Also Update Quick Time to the latset version..........
