unable to create any videos with transitions

Post by anituchka »

I have a problem creating a video file. I have HD camera and use Corel Video Studio Pro X3.

After I finished downloading all videos, I add transitions and click “create video file”. After that I select AVCHD NTSC HD-1440. I give file a name, save as “mpeg” and click “ok”. The file begins to render but then I always get an error “The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis”.

After that the programs shuts down. I am unable to create any videos with transitions. I can though make video with no transitions or other effects. Please help-this is very annoying and I want to fix it.

I have a copy of the "dump" file but cannot attach it here, the system won't let me.

thanks

Hello - even if you could attach the dump file here it would mean nothing to any of us here, I don't think anybody on these forums can read them as this is a "User to User Web Board" where we are users just like you, and even if we could open them I doubt if we would understand what they are telling us.

The users on this forum will do whatever they can to help you and I'm sure you will receive some useful replies soon - in the meantime if you want help from Corel technical support you should contact them direct via your account on the Corel website which you created when you registered your software.

I think I posted the steps on how to open a dump file in this forum somewhere.. anyway... regarding anituchka issue. I would suggested that you try and download all updates for your version.. you can visit http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1000016 to download all the updates for VS X3.

I've gotten that error a few times and it always was caused by a video clip that VideoStudio didn't like. I used to make lots of videos where I inserted clips that I shot on a variety of cell phones. Back when I used VideoStudio x3, video clips from some phones gave me that frustrating error message. My fix with x3 was to use a file conversion program called MPEG Stream to convert the cell phone video to an AVI file. The AVI file then worked perfectly in x3. Once I upgraded to x4, most of these errors went away -- x4 is MUCH more tolerant of video file types than x3 is, in my experience.

I have two suggestions for you:

1. Look for a shareware file-conversion program and use it to convert your existing files to something more universal, such as AVI or Motion-JPEG.

2. Adjust your camcorder settings to save files as a different type. It seems like the file type you're using is making VS x3 unhappy.

Hope that helps!
