RAW (dng) photo. Edits are gone after saving.

Post by ThisPaul »

Hi, New to this forum and PSP (X4 Ultimate).
Would appreciate some help with this issue please.
Working on a raw file (dng) in the Edit tab, I make changes then save to a jpg in another folder. The next day I want to undo some of the changes so I edit the dng raw file again but all my previous changes are no longer available. Am I doing something wrong? Or are my previous changes just no longer available in the raw file? Doesn't PSP keep track of changes made to raw files so you can continue to evolve the image? As I said, I am new at PSP so I hope I'm just doing something wrong.
I have used Lightroom for a while now but I really like what PSP can do and the speed to make changes , especially to portraits.
Thanks,
Paul

Sorry to hear that Paul, I think you have mistaken PSP to AfterShot. PSP is the opposite of Aftershot which is a non-destructive editing program. PSP Keeps a record or history of the changes that you made on an image/photo but after saving then closing the program. The history will no longer be recognize by PSP.

Aftershot on the other hand is a non-destructive editing software which like LR can keep track of your edits even if you close and reopen your project.

Hi Abiel,
Thanks for the reply.
At least now I know the boundaries a little better. I also purchased Aftershot so that will become my main raw program. I will use PSP for more serious editing of the jpg output from Asp.

Regards,
Paul
