VideoStudio X5 - Cant Export 640 X 360 in Mpeg Video

Post by Mr Mike »

Hello all...
If any one can help ? I am having a difficult time Exporting my 640 X 360 Video In an Mpeg Format, I am making a YouTube Video in 640 X 360 ( 360P I believe the size is called ) only because that is what my source video size is. My original source video is " AVI - 30Fps " I have cut and fine tuned my 8 Second Video that took me 8+ hrs to figure out how to make :)

Under the Project Properties there are 2 format types available, MPEG and AVI. Under MPEG Project Options --> General, I have only 4 sizes to choose from in the frame size box, 720 x 480 - 704 X 480 - 352 X 480 - 352 X 240, And the user defined selection bullet is GREYED out.

I am a fairly Adept Computer user..! but this has me stumped, is it possible that because im using the trial version that I just cannot fully use the software, If so then I can go back and install my VideoStudio X4, I was hoping to Upgrade to X5 because I can directly import my Paint Shop Pro Layers as well as CorelDRAW too.

Thanks In Advance Mike.

It is because the mpeg file sizes are pre-determined by the mpeg standards for creating cvd, svcd, dvd.
Can you select the size you want if you choose the avi option?

Yes, I can create user defined size in the ( .Avi ) option, which leaves a plethora of compression possibilities to understand :(

This Information really changes the ball game...! I incorrectly surmised that the program would steer me in the right direction by offering an array of suggestions based off the source videos properties, and not offer suggestions that would be unlikely to be implemented.

Not as intuitive as I would have liked. And means one has to do complete research to understand every possible option to pick a correct one for any given possibility.
If possible could you please offer your recommendation for a 360P video format and Compression that will be used solely for uploading to YouTube that would have at least a reasonably decent viewing characteristics, or maybe direct me to ( 360P videos for dummies - every thing you wanted to know about a 360P video but were afraid to ask, in a shortened abridged version ).

Thanks for your time, much appreciated.

Hello all, I must be doing things out of the Normal perspective of making a youtube Movie, there are atleast 120,000,000 youtube Clips currently available for viewing, millions are available only at 360P, yet there are no options for creating a 360p size movie anywhere I have looked in videostudio X5 ..!

I have now searched through " Every Movie Maker Template Manager --> File Format - ", and did not find 1 selectable 640 X 320 frame size under any format. you would think with untold millions of of 360p movie online that this size would be semi common frame size available in some selectable list. it also appears to be the default size first encountered when selecting a video to view on youtube..!

From a logic standpoint if you own a bike shop, and you know there are 1 million rims that are 17" and 1 million rims that are 20" in size, why would make a 17" tire but not make a 20" tire..!
I know nothing about bike shops but i think it might be wise to have a couple 20" tires on hand just in case.

Disclaimer: this may be a bad comparison, but from a general viewpoint it seem reasonable.

Again Murphy law take effect for me.. or so it seems. Sorry for ranting - this is a little frustrating :(

You should be uploading if possible 1280x720p to YouTube. YouTube then creates all the lower resolution versions so people with slow computers will have something they can download and play back smoothly. YouTube won't create higher resolution versions from something you upload that is only 360p, and if they did it would look terrible.

Unfortunately when the video was shot, the only video camera available to me was a DSLR camera with a 640 X 480 video resolution. I cropped that to 640 X 360 to match Youtubes 16:9 aspect.
This is my first attempt to make a short YouTube Video. Fortunately there is one setting I found under baseline H264 that has a native 360P format, Unfortunately it has a max video data rate of 2k kbps and YouTubes recommendation is 5K kbps for a higher quality 360p video.

I believe I can achieve 5K kbps if I am willing to use Vegas Video " from the online videos I have watched ", I have and use many Corel products so I would feel like a traitor if I did :(
I may also be able to create the rest of the video in 720P and use the 640 X 360 clip in a Picture in Picture setting possibly.
