asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
Hi all,
the old thread was deleted by accident when an admin tried to move it to the plugins subforum. Looks like there is no possibility to restore it - hope dies last. So I will post a short info from the plugin site here. If you had questions which were not addressed or my answers are lost, please report them again. I asked for a backup, we will see if this is possible. Would be easier to recreate a new thread if the old post were available anywhere.

Re: asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
Seems my yesterday's question got lost that way.
I was able to tag a single picture when loading a GPX track and press the "Tag" button for this picture. How to do this for all pictures belonging to a track in a single step?
You already mentioned that there is no way to tag multiple images in a single step due to SDK limitation. Is there some way to perform the tag operation by selective copy/paste? I could only find the GPS information there, which would paste the same position to all images.
Or, maybe a completely different way apart from stepping through all images and pressing the Tag button?

asGPS - Geotagging and reverse geotagging in ASP
The asGPS plugin allows geotagging with Google maps support inside ASP. It shows a road map or satellite view with several options and addons:
Images which have GPS information are marked in the map. You can search nearest location for them. Images without GPS information can get it by clicking in the map, searching nearest locations and push all theses infos into the IPTC fields of the image. Locate images in the map by searching their IPTC info within Google maps. Auto search/locate and tag modes available by ctrl-click on the buttons. This mode allows automatic searching or locating in the map on every hotness change. Moving the marker with shift pressed tags the image at once.
All tagging fields have tristate check boxes which can be set to enabled, disabled or overwrite only if empty. Use the optional external map window for a larger view outside the ASP tools box. Track files in GPX and CSV format are supported, visible in the map and can be used to locate images by matching their time stamp with the GPS time. Holiday support with weather, traffic, bicycle path info.
It is free with open source code and a PayPal donation button on the help page.
Download from here: http://aftershotpro.com/plugins/index.html?plug=asgps
Thanks to Keresztes Barna (kbarni) for providing code for reading and using the GPX and CSV track files!!

Re: asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
I m not sure I get how the plugin is supposed to work. When does it alter and save gps info ? Only when I press tag, or in other steps as well.
Up till now I am using geosetter, and it reads it well. I can open a GPX to show the entire track with it, but then asgps wants to tag it as well ? A grey marker is not in the image, a red one is ?
Also the FNL (does this mean FInd Nearest Locations ?) : the popup is not entirely visible. I was expecting this to result in all pics showing next to the picture selected.
and a quick extra question : zooming is with the mouse wheel, but my Wacom mouse does not work (doesnt work with ASP), for us tablet users, a zoom selector would be handy

Re: asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
Hi,
- asGPS tags only if you press "tag" (if not in autotag mode, which you can enable by ctrl-click on tag).
- asGPS tags only the fields which have a green checkbox, or are empty and have a yellow checkbox, red marked fields are not tagged. So don't use green and nothing is overwritten.
- FNL searches nearest location data in Google and fills in the IPTC fiels in the IPTC tab
- you can also use shift - and shift + on the num block to zoom, but I will set it on the todo list.

Translations are on its way in the Corel team. I am waiting for the return, so wait with suggestions until they are integrated. At the moment it would be just wasted time.

Re: asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
As it is an OSS, I did not think that Corel would work on it.
Thanks for you message, so I do not spend time

Cannot load GPS data from image
If I understood correctly, asGPS map should show the coordinate point when loading an image with GPS data embedded.
This is not the case with this image, taken with a Nokia N79 (scaled down, same exif): the problem seems to be sexagesimal seconds:
As shown in asGPS coordinate mask:
45,1,56N doesn't work
45,1.93N (hand edited) works
As shown in exif:
GPS Latitude : 45 deg 1' 56.00" N
GPS Longitude : 9 deg 13' 30.00" E
GPS Position : 45 deg 1' 56.00" N, 9 deg 13' 30.00" E

Re: asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
When did you download? One day after the official release there was a new mac lib build added. This one worked for those who had problems before. If not please provide the AfterShotPro.log at least.patrickh wrote:I cannot get this to work on my iMac. I am running latest Lion OS

Re: asGPS: a geocoding plugin for ASP
Ottavio,
thanks for the report. I changed asGPS to support this and uploaded it into the git repo. Lets see when Jonathan has the time to compile for Mac.

Hi,
what do you think about gray check boxes? light = always write, mid 0 write if empty, dark = don't write.
binoyte supposed that.

Hmm,
I think the traffic light logic works better. Can't the colors be tuned a bit for the color blind? Or a symbol in the checkbox be added?
cheers
