PSPx4 Installation Error 1714 regarding vcredist.msi

Post by katclark09 »

I'm not wonderful with computers, so please forgive me if this problem has an obvious solution....

I just purchased Corel PaintShop Pro x4 today.

At the beginning of installation, a box pops up and says: "The feature you are trying to use is on a netwok resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder contraining the installation package "vcredist.msi" in the box below."

Nothing works when I change the destination folder, and when I finally click "cancel" another box pops up saying: "Error 1714. The older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Reditributable cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."

I have no idea what to do.

Any suggestions?

The error message is not a problem with the PaintShop Pro X4 installer but with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1. There are two ways to fix this, first update your Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 by download the latest one at http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... x?id=26347 or follow the steps to reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 by following the steps at http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution ... 57454.aspx

These are steps from another company, if you need help with them, you may need to contact their appropriate support area.

After doing these steps then just install the program again.
