Moving website images to a DVD slideshow

Post by Ken Veal »

I am making a DVD of a wedding and as part of a slide show of stills I want to download about 10 at a time and then display them 1 screen shot at a time .They are on a website that the groom raised for the occasion. They are around 2.34 MB jpegs each so they are small .I have X5 Ultimate and Paint Shop Pro X.
What is the best way of doing this……………..Ken

For me I'd ask for a copy of the originals on a cd or memory stick, failing that just r/click and save as to save the pictures I wanted and import into VS.

Basically Ken exactly the same way as you would use any other images to make a slide show in VS X5 - as Graham says if you can get copies of the original straight from the groom that would be the best quality option , even if he e-mails them direct to you. If that is impossible then go to the website and right click over an image and choose "save image as" and follow the prompts to name and download the image to a folder of your choice.

Now the procedure is the same as for any image into slide show - I would strongly recommend that you first crop your images to a standard 16:9 or 4:3 format (to match your video) - this prevents the image being distorted when seen on screen. Now just put the images in the timeline by right clicking over the timeline and choosing "Insert Photo" and browsing to the folder with the images in and selecting it - they can be before, in between or after your video clips then set their duration to 5 or 6 second (totally your choice - longer if you want) . once in the timeline they will appear just like a video but without movement - then do you "Share >> Create video File" and proceed as normal.

before you insert them into VideoStudio - do it as soon as you have downloaded them and before you do anything with them

Do you not have any sort of photo manipulation package Ken ? - Paint Shop Pro ?, Photo impact ?, Photo Shop ?, Photo Plus ?. - nothing at all like that ? they and several others will crop as a very basic function - you need something to adjust photos if you are working with images as well as videos.

In fact Ken I see you have asked questions in the PSP forum so I assume you must have Paint Shop Pro - I personally don't have it but it must be a basic function - ask in the PSP forum for guidance on cropping photos to a specific ratio format.
