Selection Tool Custom sizing
I know you can custom size the selection tool by pixel position, but Is it possible to set the custom size of the selection tool to inches? For example I would like to have a custom size of 5 x 7 inches so I can place over an area and simple copy and then paste that 5 x 7 selection as a new image. Thanks.

No, but the math is easy.
Find out the resolution of your image, Shift + i will bring up your Image Information dialog. You should see a pixels per inch line in there. Take that value and multiply it by the size in inches to get how many pixels large the selection should be.
So in my case it's got a resolution of 200.
5 x 200 = 1000
7 X 200 = 1400
Final selection size is 1000x1400.

It may be rare that a 5 x 7 selection is exactly what you want as a new image to paste.
Why not use the crop tool set as 5 x 7 inches with aspect ratio maintained.
Adjust sizing to get exactly what you want ,then Crop as New Image , and resize to exact 5 x 7. Can then copy and paste that how you wish.
You then still have the original image to move the crop section to a new area or size it for a new and different image.
End result is still like making a selection and having that ready to paste.

hartpaul : Thanks for your help. That is exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes I want to print only a focal point of a pick and this is the way. Thanks again. Thanks to all that contributed to my resolution.
You guys are great. !!!!!!
