Unpredictable delete function
Unpredictable delete function
Hi,
I have still problems with the delete function as I a had wih the latest bibble versions.
1) In standard view I have selected an image in the image list and press delete. But instead of deleting the selected image Aftershot deleted an other image. I'm not sure if it was the previous selected image but it was the latest image I send to an output queue.
2) The second issue I had is the selection function together with delete. I enabled the filter for all images I marked to delete. Pressed Ctrl-A to select all. The delete dialog showed 23 images to delete but in the filtered view contained only 22 images. So I guess the previous selected image was still selected but filtered out, but I can't be sure (see point 1). An unselect all Ctrl-D and Ctrl-A solved this and the delete dialog showed 22 images. This is a feature would me told in the Bilbble 5 forum. But anyway for me it makes no sense and I find the selection function together with the delete function intransparent and dangourous. I there is no interesst to change this behaviour you shoud extend the delete dialog to inform the user that also unvisible images are selected. And maybe show the images names, not all if there are to much. Maybe this would prevent silly users like me loosing images.

Re: Unpredictable delete function
Next on the delete Funktion. Select an image press Crtl-D to deselect and press then delete. The delete dialog apears and say that he wants to delete one master file.
I use the file system mode, no catalogs.

Cant reproduce this on my Linux install of 1.0.1.10.Bernd wrote:Select an image press Crtl-D to deselect and press then delete. The delete dialog apears and say that he wants to delete one master file.
Tried it on various raw files and NEFs.
After CTRL-D I never see a delete dialog.

Re: Unpredictable delete function
Hi all,
I can confirm that this BUG is still there in ASP 1.0.1.10 (at least on my OpenSuse 11.4/32bit).
Also applies to the <INS> key to create a new version. -- Just got it yesterday multiple times !
I get the feeling that doing a right-click on the picture and selecting the action from the popup works fine ... only the keyboard-activity is somehow "misaligned" regarding the currently selected image(s).
Note: I´m working in filesystem mode.
Some references to older posts: cheers

Re: Unpredictable delete function
while this doesnt cover the bug described, i have stopped using delete in bibble/aftershot and several other programs, too, a long time ago. i move rejects to a special folder which i clean up in the regular file browser of the OS i am using (wxp and xubuntu) when i need the space on the harddrive again. might be weeks or months later. first it keeps me from running into bugs like this one, no matter which software i use, and second i can go back anytime and "undelete" files even days after i removed them from the project if i realise i might need one. no, i am not paranoid, i just dont trust software.
might play around with the delete function in ASP just to see if i run into problems.

Bibble since 2004. Aftershot until 2020. From then on darktable.

I think Bill Gates had the same idea too - he called it Recycle Bin (or Trash Can)grubernd wrote:i move rejects to a special folder which i clean up in the regular file browser of the OS i am using
Nevertheless, I do the same as you with a special folder on each disk partition as it's much easier to drag and drop and then review the contents later.
I had a similar DEL key problem with 1.0.0.39 that I reported (and kept the folder) but I can't reproduce it with 1.0.1.10.

well, the idea to have a trash can and retrieve items from it isnt something new, private detectives have been doing it forever.Tadjio wrote:I think Bill Gates had the same idea too - he called it Recycle Bin (or Trash Can)![]()
anyway, as soon as i discover that a software doesnt use a "straight forward" delete via the system but does some magic to files, i switch from delete to move. any software having a database and managing files therein is a prime candidate for that.

Don't forget ASP DEL also deletes the associated XMP files.grubernd wrote:anyway, as soon as i discover that a software doesnt use a "straight forward" delete via the system but does some magic to files, i switch from delete to move. any software having a database and managing files therein is a prime candidate for that.

Re: Unpredictable delete function
Seems to be important to send (filtered) images to a output queue before. I could reproduce it a few minutes again. First I had not the error that after pressing Ctrl-D ASP still wants to delete one image. But after I send some filtered images to an output queue, this error pops up again.afx wrote:Well, I can't reproduce this on W7 either.Bernd wrote:I forgot to tell that I run ASP on Windows XP.

Re: Unpredictable delete function
Ok, that is reproducible (also on Linux):Bernd wrote:Seems to be important to send (filtered) images to a output queue before. I could reproduce it a few minutes again. Filter on stars, select all images, send to queue, deselect images, select one image, deselect image, hit delete and there is a deletion popup.
Time to tell the Monkey.

Re: Unpredictable delete function
Hi afx,
nice to see that you can reproduce it now ... just check if you get the same effect with the <INS> key for a new version .....
But a small note: I can get it also when I do not "filter" my view ... but I´m not sure now if I had sent anything to the any output before I got the problem ...
Are you going to tell the Monkey ?
cheers

Re: Unpredictable delete function
I have the same bug - AfterShot deletes the wrong image, and its really ANNOYING!
Can anybody tell me if Corel is following these posts? Reading and actually considering them?
Because I tried contacting Corel over this - impossible, their forms on the website are a mockery, allegedly I didn't fill all the blanks... though the alleged blanks don't even exist on the form. User support really sucks...
I have quite a wish list for AfterShot Pro (cause I love it and I even more love to see it improved), any idea how one can make this known to Corel. To me they seem like a forteress impossible to penetrate....
