VideoStudio Pro X5 Crash while Rendering MPEG-4

Hi.

I recently decided to buy X5 upgrade to my X4; as seeing it has hardware support to some extra speed. Let me say also that I've had no issues at all with X4. There is no hardware changes in my system in using version to version of Videostudio.

• i7 2600k
  nvidia gtx 680 using the latest driverset

X5 is indeed faster while rendering in MPEG-4 formats, however most of the time it crashes at random % of the rendering. Sometimes, it works perfectly. Sometimes.

"The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis."

EDIT: I installed the X5 software on to my other desktop, a slower machine Intel Core Duo/Quad Q9650 with a nVidia 8800 gt. VideoStudio X5 crashes the same exact way doing the exact same thing.

Any clues, advice, ideas?

I get a similar problem everytime i go to burn a project to blu-ray. I have yet to successfully author a BD-R. HELP!!

I have the same issue. I even upgraded to Windows 8 to see if the problem would go away but it did not.

All my attempts to render a Blu-ray of my project using a series of .vsp projects fail. They usually fail providing the following event log application entry related to module uvHTMPEG2.dll. I can find no reference to issues with this module on the web.

Well, here's a clue.

I have been struggling with this off and on for days to no avail. Today I took a look at the project (.vsp file) where the attempt to create a Blu-ray was consistently failing. I found that it had a number of transitions with lengths of 0.10, 0.18, etc. etc. I don't have any idea how I managed to do that - the shortest transition length I use is 0.29. I fixed them all to be at least 0.29 and rendered to create a Blu-ray folder only. It worked.

I had not suspected any issue with the .vsp file simply because it had already rendered fine as a part of a dvd and it had also rendered without issue as an MPEG4 file.

If Blu-ray rendering can't deal with such short transition lengths it would be helpful if VideoStudio would flag them in the first place or not allow them to be so short.

So if your failure is showing up in event viewer as a uvHTMPEG2.dll issue, perhaps you could also check that there aren't any weird lengths in your transitions.

Please disregard my previous post re transition lengths. I just tried to render my whole project again and it failed again in the middle of the same .vsp file.

The odd thing is that I managed to produce a 1-1/2 hour or so Blu-ray a few months ago without encountering this problem. Nothing much of significance has been changed on my pc since then to my knowledge - same version with SP1 installed. I did upgrade to Windows 8 but that doesn't appear to have done anything either way.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled VideoStudio Pro X5 several times to no avail - and it's a nuisance doing that because it's tricky getting Smartsound Quicktracks to reactivate.

So frustrated... Do people from COREL view this board? Can they help? I have about 5 different DMP files I can post/send.
