Re: PSPro X Materials Palette gone
Hi Ken,
Sounds like your materials palette may be hidden or docked and auto hidden somewhere.
You have not mentioned which version of PSP you have but they seem to be mostly the same.
I have tested on PSP X2 for this.
1. open up your PSP program , no images and make sure you are in Edit mode. Go to your palettes section and untick everything so you have your clean workspace.
2. hit F8 key and see if your Layers palette appears (This tests if your function keys are working). Hit F8 again to clear the area.
3. View-> Palettes and see if a shortcut key is still assigned to Materials - should be F6
( If F6 not shown you will have to go to the Customise section ( View-> Customise-> Keyboard Tab - Category =View Command = Materials and type in the Function 6 (F6) key into the box Press New Shortcut key Click Assign and Close)
4. Now staring at the screen keep hitting the F6 key and if any part of the Materials palette is showing you should see some movement / change on your screen and you my then drag the Materials palette out into an area where you can find it.
Let me Know if this works OK for you and if not I may have another suggestion.

Re: PSPro X Materials Palette gone
OK we have established that F8 layers may not be working but that your learning centre does show.
I do not have PSP X but do have PSP8 and PSP X2 and both of those have F6 = Materials, F8 = Layers and F10 = Learning centre.
1. With workspace clear as in your point 2, click the Function 10 (F10_ key to se if that toggles the learning centre on and off. On some keyboards , you may have to hold a Fn key down (often bottom left of keyboard) while you hit the F10 key.
2. If you can work out what combination ( Fn + F10 OR just F10 alone) of keys toggles the Learning Centre on and off you should be able to do that with the F8 key to do same with the Layers palette.
3. Then try the F6 combination and see if you can see any movement on screen indicating a partly hidden or minimised Materials palette.
It may be there but auto hidden among other parts of the toolbar.

See it up there besid the Help command on the menu bar in my case.

Re: PSPro X Materials Palette gone
1 F10 did turn the learning centre on/off
2 F8 toggled overview+ layers
3 Don’t recall ever seeing materials at the top , but then I never really looked for that
4 Next time I booted up I moved the cursor over to the right until a double headed arrow
showed. Dragged to the left and the materials palette showed .
5 Went to palettes, clicked on materials and it now toggles materials, overview and
Layers.
So, I am not sure why this all happened or if things are now working as they should. But the main thing is, thanks to your help ,I am now in business!

Re: PSPro X Materials Palette gone
All good then.
Yeah after establishing that your function keys are working , and that your short cut keys are assigned and some work it was almost elementarry that if you could not see any changes then it was hidden behind somethig.
Can happen if it is set to auto hide and in versions up to X 3 it hides to just the title bar and that is easy to drag something else over when changing tools and tool properties . Glad it has all worked out. Gave me a bit of a practise at looking for solution and relearning the keyboard customisig again as well.
