Hi,
as a user of Bibble 5, and now AfterShot Pro, I noticed a phenomenon on output JPG pictures: When using chromatic aberration correction the output pictures get some strange artefacts and coloured fringes along the picture edges (see attached picture, upper and left picture edge).
I never noticed this behaviour on Bibble 5 (on Windows XP 32bit), but it appears now on AfterShot Pro (upgraded to the latest version, on Windows 7 64 bit).
Has someone noticed something similar? Is this a bug, or maybe my inappropriate usage of the program?
Regards,
Janko

Re: Bug? Strange artefacts and edge fringes
It is a bug (I hope well known
), image should be automatically cropped with the use of CA removal.
CA removal algorithm consist just of slightly different resizing of different colour channels (A/B in LAB space), hence the coloured borders.

Thank you Andy!
Then the workaround is relatively simple: cropping slightly. This is simple for a few pictures, but when converting a larger it can become tedious.
Hopefully the ASP team will rectify the situation in the next update version.

Re: Bug? Strange artefacts and edge fringes
Please use CAQuest plugin, it is an excellent automated solution for auto-assigning correct CA correction/Vignetting correction values according to lens, focal length and aperture, from its own database. You have to fill this database with your own values, but then it is acting automatically.
This plugin is also capable (on demand) of auto-setting very small crop to temporarily overcome this bug.

It's sad. We have a new version of the program, but there are still such trivial bugs like this...andysalay wrote:This plugin is also capable (on demand) of auto-setting very small crop to temporarily overcome this bug.

Yep, and Andy's solution - of using a plugin instead of the native functionality - is yet another example of a plugin being necessary to make up for unacceptable quality from the paid for solution.
Maybe I'm unusual, but I want what I paid for to work properly without having to rely on umpteen third party "band-aids".
