PAL Slideshow - images not scaled to screen - HOW?

Hi - I am looked everywhere for a simple answer to this very simple question:
I want my images to be seen full frame on the screen - they are all 479x720 pixels(horizontal) in size or verticals are 480 tall x 319 wide and should therefore be seen on PAL TV at 720 x576 (ULead settings)
Is there an easy way to make them display full frame with out being cropped on the screen? - my Apple ibook has a scale to screen button - I can only find a mention of cropping filters used by other ulead video products - surely a slide show application this is a pretty fundamental thing to have? Hopefully its me being over tired to see the wood for the trees - PLease someone who been there and done put me and my suffering wife out of our misery, oh yes and the kids get it in the neck too after many hours trying to solve this very issue - Thanks fr your grascious help.
