Using 64 bit OS - install where?

Post by thecandytrail »

Hi

Had zero luck for weeks getting a simple answer via Corel support - so signed up here.

Where do I install VS X5 on a Win 7 ultimate - 64 bit - OS: as there are two "program files" folders: /program files/ = 64 bit OR /program files(x86) = 32 bit program.

Thanks.

Since VS is exclusively a 32 bit program, though will operate on a 64 bit machine, I would have thought you would install it in the 32 bit folder. But I would also have assumed that VS's installation program would have picked that by itself...

OK, I do have it installed in the 32 bit /program files(x86)/ folder.

BUT it also installed the AV Control & Profiles folders (with a localised profiles folder) in the 64 bit Programs Files. Should they be there?

Thanks.

Also: maybe I should start new thread: But the Boris Graffiti & ALL the Prodad extras refuse to show-up within VS

The VideoStudio installer will have put all it's system files in the folders it was programmed to put them - all over you computer system you will find files dotted around. You should NOT move any of them after VideoStudio has installed or else the core exe file will not know where to find them and you will have problems with VideoStudio.

Once you have run the installer and have VideoStudio installed then leave all system folders alone.

All software programme installers are programmed with a default option which puts the system files in the folders which the programmers thought was best - unless you are an experienced computer user just accept the default - you have no need to worry where the files are - VideoStudio will know and that is what matters.

There are already a number of topics concerning Pro-dad, Boris and Mercalli - see if you problem has been solved in them - if not then either add your problem to the most appropriate topic or if not appropriate then start a new topic.

Hi

When installing Video Studio the installer will select the correct default folder
for W7 64 Bit this will be C/Program files (x86) folder

If you try to install to "c/program files" they will be installed to Program Files (x86)

At least thats my experience.

Stick to the default locations and you wont go far wrong
