!00% CPU USAGE
I suddenly have a problem opening any video file. The CPU usage goes to 100% when I just try to open the "My Video" folder! I'm running Windows XP Home, 512 MB, AMD 2400 XP processor. I've made lots of copies from VHS before, and I've never encountered this. I'm using Studeo 7 SE and ADS DVD Express to capture. I've run anti-virus and spyware searches with nothing found. Any suggestions?

That may be caused by Explorer trying to build thumbnails, especially if they aren't being cached.
Open up Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer), go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View and make sure the "Do not cache thumbnails" option is OFF, and that the "Launch folder windows in separate process" is ON.
Now when you try to open the My Video folder and the CPU utilization goes to 100%, you should be able to find an extra EXPLORER.EXE process in the Processes list in Task Manager. If you kill it, the thumbnail generation will stop, and you can continue to explore the current folder, and change the view from Thumbnails to something else.
Alternatively, you can change the Priority of the CPU-hogging Explorer process to low, and allowing it to generate the necessary thumbnails in the background without impacting system response (except for possibly disk I/O).

Open the Windows Task Manager to see what Application or Process is using all the resources. In the Process tab, you can click on the CPU column to sort by usage.
It may be easiest to open the Task Manager before you create the problem (use Ctl/Alt/Del or right click on Task Bar and Select Task Manager).
Also have a look at memory usage, something may be causing the page file to expand out of control.
