trying to load a texture for texa is causing a crash of the new ASP 1.0.1 Version
only tried it on linux so far ... - did anybody else see this problem?

I can confirm this. Texa crashes on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Beta 2.

Same here using Mageia Linux 2012 (actually Cauldron, but it's getting close to release). I'm using png textures.
