Artistic recovery

Post by afx »

While browsing through my collection to see whether I would find another interesting example to put into ASG, I came across an old shot from Tanzania that was taken in a short fierce rain.
Underexposed D200 shots don't look that sexy...

Using Wavelet Denoise and Wavelet Sharpen after having tweaked curves to brighten the image and boost contrast and a saturation boost creates something quite nice:

Here are the settings:

That looks very wet!
According to the nay-sayers in the Sony SLR forum on dpreview.com, my camera (SLT-A55) would have died because not weather proofed.
I am looking forward to getting the ASG. Do you have an ETA?

The roof of the vehicle was covered, but we got a bit of water in sideways before we managed to pull down the flaps.

Last month ;-(
We are behind, still need to finalize the camera calibration and two more samples and then a bit of grammar proofing.
Things are much slower than expected.

Wow, that is pretty cool, AFX. That is even better the the "Antiques Road Show" :)

Nicely done.
