Struggling to update from VS 8 to VS12
Hi
Been off the scene for a while as you can tell from the products I'm using. I know from experience that there's zero tolerance to stupidity, ignorance or breathatking naivety on this forum so I'll try to be clear and succinct:
Have installed Win 7 after much dismal experience with Vista and now have to reinstall everything (clean install). I've kept my product keys and have the VS8 disk which I've successfully installed. I now need to find the upgrade link to VS12 which I've previously purchased and have the key but I can't find this on the site.
I know my products are legacy status but can someone advise how I proceed in these circumstances.
Many thanks
Simon

Hi Simon
I think you may be best to contact Corel Support to see if they will provide a link.
Video Studio is now using X5 which is a few generations on. Maybe consider the latest version.
You should log-in to your Corel account, you should be able to view all your registered products.
You should also be able to see your Pin number used when contacting Corel.
I have to say that I don' think X2 (VS12) is fully compatible with W7, although patches are available, I may be corrected on that point.
Let us know how you get on

Oh Simon - I was very disappointed to read your statement " I know from experience that there's zero tolerance to stupidity, ignorance or breathatking naivety on this forum" - I don't know when you had that experience but I really hope it is not like that now - we all try to be very friendly and helpful and understanding to the fact that not everyone is a computer wizz and getting to know your way around todays complex software programmes can be quite difficult. I am sure if any of the current admins or moderators sees anyone being aggressive to a user like yourself they will step in to correct it.
I really hope your future with us is a positive experience - but please note we are all users like yourself and have no inside knowledge of Corel so there will be times like now when we have to say - in this case only Corel can help with this problem.
My only suggestion would be that as you have the serial number to X2 why not upgrade to X5 (you are eligible for the cheaper upgrade package) - X2 was released before Windows 7 and as Trevor has just said can have compatibility problems - whereas X5 is post Win 7 and runs perfectly on both my Win 7 computers.

Re: Struggling to update from VS 8 to VS12
Hi Brian
You may find this very strange certainly I do but X2 is not eligible for upgrade to X5
Eligibility seems to only for the last two versions and that's X3 and 4.
Simon, when you purchased X2 was that an upgrade from maybe VS10 or a full version?

Re: Struggling to update from VS 8 to VS12
Hi
It was an upgrade from VS8. I appreciate the intel on X2 but ould still like to do the upgrade (as I have done several times previously) while reinstalling different versions of Windows.
Does anyone know the most efficient way of contacting Coral support.
Many thanks

If you use the correct E-mail address, Corel should send a new password

If you still cannot login to your account but have the serial number, then you can contact the Corel Support either via email or chat and they'll be able to locate your account and reset the password to access it again.
About the download link. If you ordered the download link... you may still have the download link active but that is not a guarantee.
Also I highly recommend that you try the latest version since VS X2 may not run on your Windows 7 computer due to compatibility issue. You can go to http://pnoy.me/coreltrials to download the trial version,
