VSX5 Trial Please help with exporting clip segments

Post by shane77 »

Hi all
please would someone advise....
Is it possible to export a part of the timeline to a new video file?
So if I have a 10 min video in the timeline, I would like to "mark in" and "mark out" from 3m02s to 5m30s, and create a new file.

I used to use Edius I could mark in and mark out from time to time and export to a new video file.
Is there a workaround in Videostudio ?

I'm editing a training video, and would like to export different "chapters" to seperate video files, so I can upload the seperate videos to the web, and not have to export the entire video, as this would be too big.

thanks in advance

Not a work around - but an actual way of doing it properly

With your video in the timeline use the 'Mark In' and 'Mark Out' sliders under the preview screen - you will notice an orange line appears just above the timeline this indicates the selected segment - you can if you wish play this selection to ensure you have it correct.

Now click on the "Share" tab at the top of the screen and when the share options window opens select "Create Video File" - choose the format you want to make - in the next window were you choose where to save it and what to call it look towards the bottom right corner for a button labelled "Options" - click on it - in the new pop up change the radio button from 'Entire Range" to "Preview Range" - click OK and then name and Save the file - this will create a video of just the bit you want, named what you want , in the location you chose.
