Starting directory

Post by pgman »

Hi,

I use ASP mostly in the file system mode. The problem is that it tries to rescan the last directory used which take "forever" especially if that directory has thousands of images.
  • Is there a way of starting at a fixed directory? Or setting the startup directory from the command line as a switch?
  • I use Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid and there's no man page for aftershotpro. Is there a list of the command prompt switches?
Any suggestion?

Thanks

But that scan will be aborted when you switch to another one, no need to wait.

No

PressF1 in AS to get the manual.
There should be also a download link for a PDF version of that but I keep forgetting where Corel has hidden it in their byzantine web server structure.

Not to my knowledge.
You can specify image file names and work queues.

Don't totally agree : if you switch to a not yet scanned directory, it will be fully scanned - even if you switch back to an already scanned one - and previews will be built.
I got this last time, as I cleared the cache and xmps, then selected 3 directories, each one containing about 100~200 photos : despites the fact I quickly switched to a directory with only 1 photo, I had to wait for the whole previews to complete - took the 3DS and proceeded with Ocarina of Time  -.

To add to the previous comments on the presence/absence of a manpage, neither

AfterShotPro --h
nor
AfterShotPro --help

seem to work. There are some html documents in /opt/AfterShotPro/supportfiles/webhelp - choose your language, then / then index.html
but they are quite basic. No real explanation, for example, on how to use the much discussed Highlight Recovery

Can't wait for AFX to finish the ASG, in fact!
