Import Problem

So, I've been using AfterShot without any problems since the initial release. I've imported photos into a library without any problem, even using AfterShot to preview photos on a backup hard drive. Recently though AfterShot crashes when I attempt to import images. If I create a new catalog then I can import without problem. But if I try to import into my main catalog AfterShot freezes. The little progress bar shows up in the lower left corner, but it never progresses. After a few minutes the title bar says "Not Responding". I can force AfterShot to close, and after restarting it asks if I wish to continue my last action....but answering "Yes" also causes it to freeze. Has anybody else experienced this? I've tried deleting the cache but that doesn't seem to help.

I ended up writing xmp to my catalog and reimporting everything into separate catalogs. So far so good. Could not find how to get past the importing problem with that catalog. (Perhaps corrupt files or error in the database?)
