I am looking to convert my library of laser disc's to dvd. Can video studio 8 accomplish this ?
If so , can you recommend a low-cost PCI Capture card , and perhaps point me to any documentation that would get me started ?(I am a video newbie)
Thanks ,Peter

Peter,
IMHO, you can do it but its just not worth the trouble.
I briefly considered this possibility but my laser disk player had only a composite video output, which would provide only mediocre quality video and no wide screen output. So, with commercial DVDs available in widescreen, I decided to sell the player and all the disks on Ebay.

Even if you do buy a capture card I would think the laser disks are
copy protected.
ATI makes an affordable capture card. PCI style called the "All In Wonder".series.
There are a few versions. The "Pro" has the additional s-video/composite
inputs plus an antennae input for watching TV etc.
Capturing quality is good.
