Hi,
I am using DVD MovieFactory 7. Here are my concern:
1. In the Preference & Disc Tools > Format, it takes more than 5 minutes after format indicator gets to 100% and about 7 minutes to see the completion message and the media ejected. Is this a problem?
2. Just after the media is formatted, I am trying to start the Data CD creation:, but following message shows up: "The inseted disc is not empty. The process will overwrite existing information.Cotinue? " Is this also a problem?
Please advise. Thank you.
Amir.

Re: CD not empty after format
I'm assuming this is an RW disc.
If you've formatted it, then it should be empty.
In this case you aren't bothered by any info written to the disc, so overwriting it won't be a problem for you.
Just go ahead.

No this is not a problem... the time it takes to complete formatting a CD will depends on a number of factors, like the speed of your writer, type of CD and if there are a number of programs running that also used your CD/DVD Writer.

Just like what skier-hughes said this is not a problem.
Please advise. Thank you.

Re: CD not empty after format
Hi all,
Thank you for prompt reply.
For issue #2, I am just wondering why my data still there in CD/DVD-RW even after format it using DMF. I have tried with Imation, Verbatim and Sony.
Do you never face this kind of symptom with your system?
I am using Thinkpad ThinkPad T420 with Sony Optiarc DVD/CD multi burner.

Re: CD not empty after format
I'm not sure, amybe the formatting has written data to the disc telling the writer it is now free for writing, but the writer is picking this up and thinking it has data on it. ??????? Guessing in the wind....... one of those things that is best ignored if you can write to the disc
