Re: Download ASP on Linux
The official Corel download page does not work here either (FF in Ubuntu). I get some sort of a a popup where I only see the close button....
Same behavior on Chromium.
cheers

I wonder if you are using icedtea instead of jre? I've run into issues before with icedtea that forced me back to jre.grooveman wrote:Can't speak for anyone else, but this is definitely not the case for me. I do not use noscript, and javascript is definitely enabled. It bombs out on my two debian squeeze boxes and my Gentoo box, on Iceweasel and Firefox (3.x, 10.x and 11.x), it also fails on opera and Konqueror. All I get is a dimmed-out screen with a floating "X" to close the window that isn't showing...pgman wrote:I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04/FF 10 and 11 and it works for me. It also works on Google Chrome 17 and 18 and finally on Opera 11.6x.
Most likely you are either using noscript or have disabled the javascript on Preference > Content tab.

Re: Download ASP on Linux
May I suggest those who have these problems make a note/Bookmark of the url's I posted earlier or use the Upgrade Page.
http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=4300004
These are for the latest version 1.0.10.1
Personally I would prefer simple HTML Links for these sort of things, not 'cool' but very effective and Cross Platform Compatible.

There sure is an awful lot of Javascript on that page but I haven't seen any Java stuff.greerd wrote: I wonder if you are using icedtea instead of jre? I've run into issues before with icedtea that forced me back to jre.

Re: Download ASP on Linux
This was my first thought as well, but after downloading Sun java, and switching my system and user vm to it, it still does the same thing. A good guess... but aparently... wronggreerd wrote:I wonder if you are using icedtea instead of jre? I've run into issues before with icedtea that forced me back to jre.
So, it doesn't seem to matter if I use iced-tea or Oracle/sun java. I don't think that Ajax requires a javavm anyway, so I think the problem must lie elsewhere...

Re: Download ASP on Linux
I went almost crazy trying to download the file, and then I've noticed that the Corel page was set to Brazil.
You must set the Corel page to United States (at right upper corner on the site). If you don't do this, you won't be able to download ASP.

Re: Download ASP on Linux
No, changing the country to United States doesn't fix the problem. Anyway, the download link posted in the update notification works fine, the link leads to the support area of the Corel site. Here is the post: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=46138
[Solved] Re: Download ASP on Linux
I wrote this on 15-Apr-2012 and it worked then (for me). On 20-Apr-2012, I tried downloading ASP with a Linux Firefox 11 and it did not work. To make it work, I had to the "User Agent Switcher" with a setting of Internet Explorer and the download worked. UAS allows Firefox to be identified as something else.pgman wrote:I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04/FF 10 and 11 and it works for me. Please can you provide a simple download button which works?

edit: Sorry, didn´t notice the previous post
Hi,
the Firefox extention "User Agent Switcher" solves the problem with Corel´s (and many other) websites.
Choose "Internet Explorer 8" and reload the download page.
The addon can be found here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/ (search for user agent switcher)
kind regards
Gabi

Re: Download ASP on Linux
Confirmed. I guess this means corel needs to do a better job of checking for cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility... But at least you gave us a good work-around boogie! Thanks.boogie wrote:edit: Sorry, didn´t notice the previous post

Re: Download ASP on Linux
It certainly does, but in the meantime, there's a link that DOES work for linux folks now: Who's clever enough to spot the new link?grooveman wrote:Confirmed.
