Why can't I Clone outside the original image? [solved]

Post by Tadjio »

If I use Straighten and then Crop, I often get a little corner remnant from outside the original image.
Why can't I Clone into this area?
I can with PSP.

EDIT: Solved using zPerspector "Mirror" as suggested by Ogrizzo

Your wish is my command...
Sample image Rotated and Cropped
Sample image Rotated and Cropped
All I would like to do in this sample image that I have Rotated and Cropped is to Clone the sky into the top right-hand corner.
A piece of cake with PSP!

Thanks, Ogrizzo! I had never tried "Mirror" before and it works a treat - very easy indeed.

"Pixel Offset for Mirroring Edges"?
"Pixel Offset for Mirroring Edges"?
Just one question - what is the purpose of the "Pixel Offset for Mirroring Edges"?

I have bought tin.tin a couple of beers for his efforts :D

The highest offset you can go to is 99. The offset is the area where the mirror starts its transition and it appears the higher the offset the smoother the "line" where the mirror begins. In you example a nice low offset is very appropriate in others not so much.

Thanks. Presumably that is measured into the image from the edge. With a 4000 pixel image it can't make much difference.

the "Pixel Offset for Mirroring Edges" is the offset in pixels to start the mirroring effect from the edge inside the image. this option is needed for perspective corrected images. if the mirroring is enabled with offset zero you'll see some artifacts on the edges. the 3 as default is just the value that I found as a 'best practice' value. but it might be increased to adjust the mirroring line(s).
