I have ULead DVD Movie Factory 6, which is an activated TBYB.
I am getting a new computer, and I want to transfer Move Factory to the new computer.
How do I do this without purchasing the product a second time?
Thanks (Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I couldn't find it in the forum)

Just like any other program, you would need the original installation files, be they on a disc provided by Ulead/Corel or else the copy you should have made if you originally downloaded the installation package.

I have the original installation files - but will I need to deactivate the copy on my old computer first?
I am guessing that when you activate the software it will check with a server somewhere to see if the software has already been activated (after all, otherwise you could just install it on as many machines as you like).
If I simply uninstall the software from my old computer, will it register the uninstall with the server, or will I need to do something else as well?
Thanks

Normally with Corel products you can install the same program on more than one computer, but you can only use one computer at a time. So there is no need to go through any deactivation process as far as I am aware.

Re: DVD Movie Factory 6 - how to transfer to new computer
I gave this a go, but when I tried entering the serial number in the activation window, it told me that it was incorrect.
Is it possible that older ULead products do not follow the same scheme that you described for Corel products?
Or is there a different code that I need to enter here? As far as I remember it was the serial number that I had to enter before, but
it has been a little while since I did the installation, so it is possible that I am mistaken. However, I don't have a record of any activation
code other than the serial number.
If I do need to use an activation code other than the serial number, how would I go about obtaining it?
THanks

If you need an activation code it is supplied after you put your serial number in - have you checked out your registered products on the Corel website to make sure you have the full and correct serial number.
Re: DVD Movie Factory 6 - how to transfer to new computer
When I updated my computer to W7 x64, I did not uninstall Ulead MF6+ from the old XP x64 partition, which I've left behind in dual-boot mode. I installed it fresh to the new W7 partition, using only the serial number from the original disc sleeve which looked like this: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxx. There is no online activation, or separate activation code, that I recall (and I would have made a note of it but there is none that I can find). I further updated it with the HD Pack which required no addt'l serial number.
As BrianCee says, you should be able to recover your correct serial number from your online account. You did register the software, did you not? IIRC when I bought the software they were Ulead, but the registration became Corel (and is on their website) without my having to do anything.
