Are the suggestions in the sticky still required for VS9?

Post by TimA-C »

Hi,

I've been using VideoStudio on and off since version 5. Last year I bought a Leadtek PVR2000 PCI TV card with hardware MPeg capture and VS7. I upgraded to VS8 pretty quickly but had the usual problems with audio oos problems. The suggestions in the sticky at the top of this board and PVA Strumento sorted out most of these.

Anyway, I've just recently upgraded to VS9 and done a clean install of Windows XP Home SP2 and was just wondering if the suggestions in the sticky were still required for VS9? There doesn't seem to be any mention of VS9 in there.

I guess it probably won't do any harm following the suggestions there but my question is do I have to follow them to get decent results most of the time. I know I'm being lazy but I don't relish the prospect of spending hours experimenting if someone out there has already got the answer.

My system at the moment is:- Athlon XP Barton 3200 in an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe (nForce2) mobo, 3 x 512mb Crucial DDR3200, 120Gb 7200rpm 8Mb cache IDE Western Digital hard drive with main system on, 80Gb 7200rpm 8Mb cache SATA Western Digital hard drive for the video work, Leadtek Ti4200 VIVO AGP graphics card, Leadtek PVR2000 tv card with hardware MPeg2 capture, Soundblaster Audigy Platinum soundcard, LG 16x DVD-RW, WinXP Home SP2.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Unfortunately, everything in the recommended procedure still applies to VS9. All in all, VS9 is more stable than VS8 and the Audio/Video sync problem is fixed, but not trouble free.

Most importantly, the bugs that attack new users when they try to burn DVDs are still there. Following the procedure will avoid these bugs. Its a sad commentary, but these bugs have been around - and easily fixable - since before VS7. Why Ulead refuses to fix them is a mystery to me...

BTW, you don't have to spend hours experimenting - we already have.

Thanks for your reply JC. I thought this was probably the case but, you know, hoped...!

I think I'll still have to do some experimenting because I recently bought a Liteon 5006b DVD Recorder and have been getting some odd results when using the DVD-VR files from it in VS9.
