Batch Convert Decrease Video Screen Size

Post by yannch »

Hi all,

I edit an mp4 video and produce a new mp4 video.
If I produce the new mp4 while I open the project, the screen size is normal. (c_not_use_batch.jpg)
If I produce the new file using batch convert, the screen size is reduced. (c_use_batch.jpg)
However, the setting for producing the files are the same (c_setting.jpg)

The files and settings are the same. The only difference is using batch convert or not.

This happens to Video Studio Pro X3 and X5.

How can I deal with it?

Thank you.

Regards,
yannch

Hi

your original video file appears to be widescreen 16::9.
Can you provide the video properties, right click a clip in the timeline and select properties.

Using Batch Convert for 16:9 set the frame size to 1280 x 720

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion.

Your suggestion could produce a video with satisfactory screen size.

But that was not my point.

My point is: I find that the output screen size is alright **if** I
produce the file directly while the project is open. But when I do
the same thing using the batch convert, the screen size decreases.
The setting for the conversion are the same! I just wonder why
the same setting can produce different outputs under two difference
conversion mode.

So I consider it as a bug.

Thank you.

Hi

You should by now have three versions of your video file.
1 / The Original.
2 / Converted from the timeline
3 / Batch converted.

Place these in the timeline of a new project

Right click each clip and select properties, what are they.?
We need to know these properties.

As I said your video file appears to be widescreen 16:9.
The screen shots you provided show Mg4 using 720 x 576, this is 4x3 not 16 x 9

One more thing, did you change the option for Non-Square pixel Rendering.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

The properties.jpg shows the video clip properties.
The timeline.jpg is clipped from the timeline.

A] The Original.
B] Converted from the timeline
C] Batch converted.

I think the 16:9 screen is just one of the screen shots.
Some parts in the screen may appear to be 4:3.
But the movie size is 720x576.

And I think I did not change the option for Non-Square pixel Rendering.
The "Non-Square pixel Rendering." box is checked.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for mentioning the "Non-Square pixel Rendering".

I have just noticed that the batch conversion mode
does not provide the option for checking "Non-Square pixel Rendering."
but the "timeline" mode has it.

Does that make any difference?

Hi

the shape of the video frame does not look correct, it is displaying as widescreen yet the properties show as 4:3.
Are the black bars top and bottom part of the video file.?

Go to Settings – Preferences, change the background colour, not black.....
Drag the original clip to the “Overlay Track” this should show as a smaller frame.
Do you see any black within the preview screen.?

By the way, when you took the image of the preview screen were the clips in the top track or the overlay track?

Hi,

I have set the background to green.

In the image,
A is the original clip
B is produced with timeline.
C is produced with batch mode.

In the previous attachment with 3 small screens.
They are from the overlay tracks , I think.

The "Display Aspect Ratio" should be changed from "Source Frame Size" to "16:9." This applies to the M4V-SP profile.

Hi

Your video file is using an aspect ratio of 4:3.
It contains a black border top and bottom that gives the impression of a windscreen video.

The images you provided show the 4:3 video in a 16:9 project.

I would suggest you change the project properties to 4:3.
Then use the filter Video Pan & Zoom to remove the top/bottom black bars.
This will revert the video back to 4:3. It will of course reduce the quality, maybe it will be acceptable.

If you try to create a full screen 16:9 then you would have to zoom - in further, this will certainly be noticeable.

If you feel it acceptable to have these black borders then render the original video using 4:3 ratio.

I think I have a different but similar issue. Using X5 videostudio pro.

I have a number of HD 1920x1080 videos which I want to batch convert to mp4 -- but I do not see any sizing options for full HD? I tried a number of other output formats without finding one which will support the full 1080 resolution.

Any pointers?

thanks in advance,

Ed

Hi

1920 x 1080 sizes are available for Mpeg 4 when using Video Studio.

File-Batch Convert
Add
Save as Type, select Mpeg-4 Files
Options button opens Video Save Options window

Compression tab
Video Type H.264_main / H 264_high
General Tab
Frame size - 1920 x 1080 should be available.

The settings above should also be available when using Share Create Video File- Custom and Settings- Make Movie Template Manager.

However what you choose should reflect the original video files properties.
