Import DVD to VS4
I made a copy of some video from a TV show and want to edit it. How do I do this. It has the extension: MOVIE.VRO. Do I need to convert the VRO file to what?

Re: Import DVD to VS4
VideoStudio cannot import .vro files but they can be easily and cheaply converted - please see here :- http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/vro
convert to .avi or .mpg and VideoStudio will then edit them
I assume we are talking VS X4 - V4 was a very long time ago

Yes it is VS Prox4. The program you suggested says it is a free download. Does that mean you have to pay for it later? Are there any free programs that will convert? I hate to pay for something that I may not be using more then once.
Thanks for all your help

well - to me - 100% free means it's free and you never pay - if you have problems with that then just Google for an alternative.

"Free download" does not necessarily mean "Free program". I believe the "free download" in your link only refers to a free player not the editor.BrianCee wrote:well - to me - 100% free means it's free and you never pay - if you have problems with that then just Google for an alternative.

I can do no more - it says :-
you don't have to use it if you don't want to - just Google for an alternative that suits you.

Brian -- I have opened the link you provided above several times now, and nowhere have I seen the image you just posted... Is it in one of the links listed on that page?

Well that's very strange - when I follow that link I see the following :-
and I see that link right at the top - so in order to be helpful I clicked on the 'Start Download' button and was taken to this site :-
http://videoconverter.softango.com/
where it appears you can download the converter for free - but as I've said before - if any one has doubts then they should search Google for one which suits them

Re: Import DVD to VS4
Thanks Brian. I am not personally interested in the.vro format. I was just interested in seeing what was on the page in your original link, not in googling for alternatives. I have just tried that link again on a separate computer, and still don't see what you see. The bits at the top appear (here at least) to be ads for different products inserted by google... A bit like that awful page for downloading Super...
Moreover, when I follow the second (Softango) link you provided, it does, yes, bring up a free video converter ... but one which does not have .vro listed among the formats it can convert to and from!

I also did not get the page for the "Softango free converter" until I turned off my "Ad Blocker". Now I see it.
I did see at the bottom of that page the ad for the "avs4you" package which only mentions a "free download"
Re: Import DVD to VS4
Thanks , I downloaded " Video Performer " and it seems OK and Free but it does not except .VRO files. If I do get something to convert the files, what would be the best format to change it to that would be the best quality so I don't lose any resolution?

Re: Import DVD to VS4
Change the .VRO file extension to .MPG. Then try importing to VideoStudio. I just tried it and it worked. But if it doesn't work for you, the trial version of MOVAVI VideoConverter will convert it. www.movavi.com. Also the trial version of VideoReDo will convert it. www.videoredo.com.
MotionStudio 3D 1.0; Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 (w/o sp1) (Download), Corel PaintShop Pro 15.2.0.12 (Download)
Re: Import DVD to VS4
Thanks everybody for the help but that program that was suggested did not work for me. The good news is a found FreeMake Video Converter and it worked fine & changed the .VRO to MPEG. Maybe some one else is having the same problem and FreeMAKE Video Converter does the job and it's Free.
What would be the best thing to convert to? What would have the best quality? I don't care how big the file is.

Re: Import DVD to VS4
There is no point in converting to any thing other than mpeg - VRO is basically an mpeg video and you can't improve on that by converting to something else.
Re: Import DVD to VS4
Thanks Brian. This forum is the best bar none! Any time I have a problem you guys solve it. Where would you suggest I put a video that I've done with VSProx4 for you guys to critique?
