You say Ulead which suggests quite an old version - which one please.

you also say you captured the video = by firewire or analogue ? - but either way if you captured inside VideoStudio it should have automatically put a thumbnail in the default library.

Just a note about the libraries - they do not actually house your videos - only thumbnails which link to the actual video which is in your default working folder.

You can put a thumbnail in any library you want by opening the library you want to use and left clicking on the video in the timeline and holding down the left mouse button while sliding the cursor up in to the library and releasing and a thumbnail will be created

I am using an old version that came with easycap and analog. They are saved as .vsp and not recognized as video and I have not been able to convert.

.vsp is NOT a video - it is not how videos are saved in VideoStudio - .vsp is a Video Studio Project file which just saves your edit information - you cannot convert them or play them as a video.

to save as a video you must go "Save >> Create Video File" and choose from a number of video formats.

Right - stretching the memory cells now - version 8 is a very long time ago - but if I remember correctly that was the first version which could handle Dolby Digital - BUT - you had to purchase a decoder to do it - which is no longer available. Almost certainly the sound on your DVD is Dolby Digital and it will just not play in version 8. The answer to your problem is to upgrade to a later version of VideoStudio.

Hi
Be aware there have been some problems when using Easycap.

If you have used easycap and VS 8 to capture your video then it cannot use Digital Dolby without as Brian mentioned the AC3 decoder/encoder.

Right Click the clip and select properties, what are they?
Also note the file name, this contains the files location on the hard drive. Probability your working folder, Use Windows Explorer to locate the files, do they play using one of your Media Players.

I recommend that you download the trial before you buy the upgrade. You can go to corel.com/videostudio to download the trial.
