Capture looks good until finished...VS8 crash.

Post by airman_79 »

I'm using Sony DCR-HC40 w/Firewire

Problems capturing this one DV tape I have. For some reason I go through the whole 60 mins. and VS looks good. Once I click "Stop Capturing" or the tape runs out I get the Windows Error Reporting Screen. I click on Technical Data and it shows and error in "vstudio.exe" something with "dswplug.dll".

I've been fortunate to create a DVD before from the same camera no problem. This one seems to be a problem child. Any assistance would be of great help.

Thanks.

Try capturing in 5-10 minute intervals. This will help you locate a (possible) section of bad video and will also make it a lot easier to edit because a smaller captuere file is less twitchy. (I assume that your computer is not limited by the old 4GB limits and that you have set up realistic capture properties as recommended in the top sticky post.)
