Install VS4 Ultimate over VS4 Pro

About 3/20/12 I purchased VS Pro Ultimate bundled w/ PaintShop. I did this to get the video stabilization program (Mercalli?) that comes with Ultimate For $70 rather than pay full retail to get it in VS X5, plus I got Paint Shop. I have already bought and paid for The standard VS4 version maybe 9 months ago. I need to know what effect the new install will have on the previous version. I would prefer not to be forced to download all the free stuff from Corel again. I don't have enough content to be real worried about losing anything important but would prefer to be able to just start where I left off. I've checked about the clean up program and how to uninstall but will the current content be grandfathered into the Ultimate version? What's the best way to do this?

something not quite clear in your question - but - the VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate version is IDENTICAL to the VideoStudio Pro X4 version - the only difference is that with the Ultimate version you received a number of extras that were not included in the standard version - so if you are just talking X4 there is no need to load another copy.

Then you mention X5 - if you are now installing X5 it will install ALONGSIDE your previous X4 not over it - after installation you will have both X4 and X5 as full working copies - not a problem , many of us have more than one version on our PC's - nearly all the content from X4 already on your PC can be copied/moved into the X5 folders so it is not essential to download everything again.

To uninstall the software you should use the standard windows feature (W7 Program and Features)
If this fails or you have trouble uninstalling then use the Clean-Up tool.

If you have the standard X4 version installed and now own the Ultimate.

The Ultimate Bonus file will contain the Mercalli? and other software, I am not sure if you will be able to install this on the X4 Standard Version, Corel may have written the software to be only installed on top of the Ultimate. Worth trying to install the Bonus files but you may receive an error.

If this is the case then you will have to un-install X4 and re-install X4 ultimate. I think?

And what free content are you referring to?

Thanks for prompt reply I only mentioned X5 by saying i did not buy it but rather X4 ultimate to upgrade to Mercalli. Shouldn't have mentioned it I guess. I got it installed by just using the Control panel remove function. My videos have dis appeared but they may be somewhere. I can't find Graffetti but the Mercalli antishake installed. I don't get why bonus packs must be manually installed but you think there would be instruction on how to do it. The bonus features I was referring to is the screen that opens after VS opens that says check update/free content (mostly just titles) All must be downloaded manually.

The bonus pack that contains the Mercalli plugin should also contain all other bonus software including Graffiti.

The free downloads from the Do More……………
The Instant Templates should be still on your pc, but will require adding to the Instant Project library before using.
The Title packs will require downloading again. Pretty quick process, and only three I think?

I've always felt that Ulead/Corel were not quite ready for prime time. Always some special extra installation steps. Sort of like the programmers are stuck in the 90's. Doesn't seem to want to handle HD very well even tho i bought a new computer just to upgrade to VS X4. Mercalli doesn't seem to do anything but hard to tell with the herky-jerky HD rendition I am getting with smart proxy(no S. P. explanation that this process can take an hour and how to check the progress, just stumble upon it). I'm not a power user but I will stumble along as i have done with the other 5 versions I've purchased - always disappointed with the product and it's lack of explanation of the process. Only returning to the well because i don't want to start the whole learning curve over again with some other manufacturers equally disappointing offer.
None of this is a request for the help which i do appreciate.

I just thought of one other thing i haven't seen mentioned. Where is Boris Graffiti supposed to show up, any way. I would think in the title folder. Is that correct? Or is it hidden in a drop down like the paint function is?

AHA! here is the issue I was worried about. I just didn't know how to check it out.
Corel Guide>Do More> Templates
These are Title and Font packages that are free to download and they install to VSX4. The problem is it it says INSTALLED and gives a date (2010) but they aren't installed and can't be dowloaded again even though I have upgraded to Ultimate by buying a new box DVD. They WERE installed on the Pro version but the reinstall has made them disappear. So How do i get access to them to download again?

Difficult to replicate your problem as not many would upgrade from X4 pro to X4 Ultimate.

If when un-installing you selected to remove all personal files, the download for the 3 Title Packs would be available.

The three downloads are called DoMore_Title_05.exe 06.exe and 07.exe
They are saved to your pc somewhere here for XP:-

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Corel\Downloads

Do a search, I would assume by running these files would install to X4 Ultimate, but just don't know if it will work?

I would advise you contact Corel Support for their advice.

Otherwise I can e-mail a VSP containing the X4 titles, you should be able to open and drag the titles to the library.
