VideoStudio X4 Compiling error

Post by MentisVenator »

Since 06/03/2012 (dd/mm/yyyy), i've been having problems compiling ANY project in VideoStudio, I've narrowed down what isn't the problem, it isn't:

* Internet Connection
* Windows 7
* Graphics Card
* Codecs (I uninstalled the ones that didn't come with VideoStudio X4, it made no difference)
* VideoStudio X4 itself (as I tried it out on another machine and it worked perfectly)

It's something to do with whatever VideoStudio uses within the system to compile videos, that's all i'm certain of, I just don't know WHAT it is. Anyone know what's wrong as any attempt to compile AVI files results in it crashing when it reaches 92%, Quicktime can barely get past 1%, MPEG-4 HD crashes when it gets to 8%...I think you can get the pattern. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi

You mention Quick Time, has your pc updated this player.

There have been problems relating to QuickTime, unfortunately the fixes contradict each other.

Random crashes of the software, install an earlier version of Quick Tine, X4 installs QT V 7.5.5
Unable to read or open Mpeg4 types, install the latest version of QT.

A little more from Corel

First try V7.5.5

I can play the edited raw footage correctly, it's COMPILING that's the problem, no matter what file type I select for the project compiling, the end result is the same - program crashes and most of the file types are either 10% of the full project or unplayable. I tried installing Quicktime 7.5 and it made no difference, whatever, it's not VideoStudio X4, it's NOT the OS, it's something in-between, something that deals with the compiling within the system...sorry, I should've added that info to my previous post, I've been dealing with this for the last 2 weeks now.

Here's the problem:

---------------------------------------------------------
VideoStudio X4 (what I use to compile videos) - | Whatever is used within the system by VideoStudio X4 to compile videos | - Windows 7
---------------------------------------------------------

VideoStudio X4 isn't the problem, Windows 7 isn't the problem, it's somewhere in-between that the problem area. I don't know what VideoStudio uses to compile videos, all I know is that it's not within the folder containing the program and it's not working as it did 2 weeks ago.

Hi

If the program performed ok 2 weeks ago then something on your system has changed.

Have you considered System Restore.

Personally I do not like using this unless I have to.

That doesn't help as the most recent update installed was Java, I reinstalled Windows 7 about a week ago, Java was reinstalled yesterday. I reinstalled Windows 7 to solve a problem with video / audio skipping (seperate from this), it solved that, it DIDN'T solve this. I tried it on a different machine and it works, why won't it work on this?! I've posted a crude diagram of where I believe the problem area is, somewhere in-between VS X4 and Windows 7, I had a check of the hard drive and the system found nothing wrong with it.

Probable problem area: Whatever part of the system that VideoStudio uses to compile videos
Specific problem area: Unknown
Solution: Unknown

I found out what was preventing the project from compiling...LOL!!! It was so simple, It wasn't seen sooner, it's because the video and audio file thumbnails weren't relinked properly after I reinstalled Windows 7 and VideoStudio X4 (e.g. they were showing VIDEO1.AVI rather than Video1.avi when I relinked them), once I reconstructed the project (re-recording the audio where needed), the compiling wasn't a problem. At least those who read this will find this out in order to avoid making the same mistake as I did.

Upppps

We used to describe that as a “working party fault”

We learn by our mistakes

Glad you managed to sort it
