Exactly. Due to its structure searching and finding relevant information on facebook is simply impossible.FrankX wrote:... facebook is ... not suitable for things like we discuss here in this forum.

I more than agree.FrankX wrote:In fact, I don't think facebook is bad for communication, I only think it is not suitable for things like we discuss here in this forum.
This forums are wonderful technical resources about a product. Therefore, I think that it's in Corel's interest to use the full power of the forums and keep us (users) all together with a great communication; But certainly not giving the baby to a 3-rd party business like Facebook, which even don't care at all about us.
Yes they are! This is the scary part actually.FrankX wrote:Facebook is good for spreading news,
It really bothers me the fact that the whole street & the entire office floor can see that last night I was struggling with a weird artifact in the highlights of an image shot with this specific camera...
Bottom line, Facebook is probably great for social communication. But I socialise only with outdoor photographer I meet on the road, or with some of the wildlife species. I shouldn't be obliged to socialise with my entire neighbourhood in order to solve a technical issue or finding out if an update is available.

Hi all,
My apologies for not taking the time to read every reply before posting this. I can see several different topics have been combined and debated, so I'm sure I won't be addressing everyone's answers with my small addition.
The AfterShot development team has been working on new additions, bug fixes and camera support since the launch in January. A new service pack that includes fixes, additional plugins and support for approximately 20 new cameras is due to be released in several weeks. This certainly won't be the only update this year as they are continually working on improvements and additional camera support, even as they plan the next version. I don't have final details to share yet, but will encourage the team to keep you all posted more regularly in this forum.
Cheers,
Evelyn - Corel Employee and PaintShop/AfterShot Product Marketing Manager

I'm embarrassed to admit, I don't know how to add an avatar. There's no option to upload one, only to link to location online. Any tips?tundraquad wrote:Thank you so much Evelyn.

You need to have an avatar online somewhere that you can link to - the forum no longer supports uploading of avatars - the image you choose must be somewhere permanently online like a website - it cannot be on your PC.

Here comes the but ........... Why is it necessary for Corel to keep the newly supported cameras a secret?? ......
I spend (like many others I'm sure) a lot of money keeping my equipment upgraded, KNOWING that support is on the way as opposed to HOPING would certainly keep the stress levels down and go a long way in helping plan out the transition from old equipment to new.
EG: My Eos-1D X arrives (I hope) in about 2 -3 weeks, worst case scenario would be to have it arrive and then try to make a choice of raw converters ...... Do I wait for ASP?? ... how long do I wait??? ... is the X in the list of 20??? ....... ASP is a fabulous product for my older 1D's, but I am not willing to wait on ASP prior to using new equipment that your main competitors already support. You need to keep us in the loop so we as professionals can make these decisions based on fact rather than guessing/hoping ..... I won't run a business guessing ........ we are willing to pay for updates!
I can see keeping your new feature lists secret ...... but your camera support .... I don't think so
If you read this ....... can you please tell me if/when I will see support for the EOS-1D X. ..... if not I need to make other plans.
Thanks again,
Mike

you don't sound like a photographer to me, you sound more like a guy who upgrades his equipment in the hope it might make him a better photographer. I know what your photographs will look like without having to see them, and that is bad.
why do you need to upgrade your camera regularly without giving me some marketing rubbish? you are a consumer plain and simple and I hope you make other arrangements and enjoy taking cliche photos in 100 megapixel mode.

I wan't even going to reply to this ... but I just can't resist ........clifford wrote:to mike

Clifford ... clifford ... clifford ..... you've got to be kidding me .....
You don't want to know what you sound like ...... Have you nothing intelligent to add to what I see is a very important issue for Corel to deal with.clifford wrote: "sound like a photographer" .... "you sound more like a guy who upgrades his equipment in the hope it might make him a better photographer"
.......... Another intelligent statement.clifford wrote: "I know what your photographs will look like without having to see them, and that is bad."
One thing is for sure I can't set the ISO on my camera as low as the IQ it took to make those unsubstantiated (look it up) moronic statements ...... 50's as low as it goes.
Prior to this unique post of yours .... you stated you were looking forward to the release of the service pack ... why?? ..... you like surprises ...... love to see your business plan.
But then you must (I'm guessing here) based on your prior statements still be using your 1 megapixel Kodak cause it still functions .... do you wear bell bottoms too???? .....
My clients expect and deserve the best ..... that means delivering the best possible prints utilizing the latest technologies and equipment available. I owe them that much.
If this had anything to do with megapixels as you stated I certainly wouldn't be buying the equipment I am ......... megapixel there's another one for you to look up.
Have a great day ... sorry to the rest for this blatant misuse of the board.
Mike

you are still to convince me why you need to spend thousands and constantly upgrade to the newest equipment.
however, I wish you good luck with your expensive endeavor.

Re: Corels costumer relation and communication policy
I may be wrong because I haven't payed too much attention to LR's upgrade cycle but isn't this the first time they've supported cameras before their release?

I don't need to convince you or anyone of my business model, but I thinks it's a fair question.
I run my cameras at app. 100,000 - 120,000 shutter actuation's per annum ... sometimes more.
The shutters in the 1-D line are rated at 300,000, that alone tells me that I should get 2 good years out of each body, and I do without fail ... so far
In my mind putting the money out to refirb the cameras when the latest products have always (at least in the last 4-5 years) provided far superior ISO ranges and IQ ..... is money badly invested.
I come from the film era and would still be using my F1 if not for the onslaught of digital and it's ever evolving technology, which I have now embraced and love to work with.
I shoot a lot of sports and a lot of theater and today's cameras offer the best yet technology to increase the percentage of well defined images.
I agree with you a piece of equipment does not a create a good photograph ...... but it can and does increase the percentage of usable images.
If I just shot a day at the beach type shots ...... well that's a whole different ballgame .... but I push my cameras to the limit and expect a lot .... I get a lot too.
A year ago I upgraded my 70-200 2.8 L to the Mark II, have you ever used that lens ....... it is the most remarkable piece of glass I've used to date.
Again the lens doesn't frame the shot .... I do ...... but I shoot with the utmost confidence in my equipment .... if it's a bad shot ... nobody to blame but me.
In my opinion money well spent ....... Equipment: Expensive ....... Great PHOTO's: Priceless
Regards
Mike

thanks for your reply. wouldn't you save money if instead of buying new equipment you replaced the shutter of your perfectly adequate camera?

Between the tax write-offs and the resale value of the used camera, I wouldn't be surprised if it costed more to replace the shutter.clifford wrote:mike
