The web page you created to display the two images displays the .gif file at 10 times its actual size. The .gif file is 1 pixel wide by 77 pixels tall, but it is displayed as 10 x 770. That is not an error, as such, but it is a matter of how the image is scaled.

The color rendition is puzzling, however. I downloaded your original (1x77) file, and opened it in Paint Shop Pro versions 8 through X4, PHOTO-PAINT 9, Pixel Studio 2.0, MS Paint (Windows 7), and PhotoImpact X3. I also displayed it in two web browsers, IE 8 and Firefox 4.0, as well as in the Windows 7 Photo Viewer. All of these programs displayed the image as two colors (blue over light beige), except PSP X, XI, X2, and X3; those four versions of PSP displayed it as one color, only the blue.

If you take a look at the palette for the image, they are different too. The first four colors on the left are the same in PSP8 and X2 but the rest are completely different.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16
