Capture Mini DVD?

Post by debdar72 »

I'm trying to capture dvd (mini dvd from my Sony) and I get an error message. I don't have any cables with this camera and thought that Video Studio let you go direct capture to DVD. Anyone else have success here?

You do not "Capture" with a DVD camera.

Would of helped if you mentioned which version of UVS you have.

Take the mini disc out of your camera and put it in the DVD tray of your PC - take care to centralise it in the special depression.

open UVS at the edit stage and either :-

1. Click on "File" then "Import Media file to timeline" then click on "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" then browse to the VIDEO_TS folder on your Disc - select it and follow instructions and your video will appear in the timeline.

2. RIGHT click in the timeline and from the pop-up which appears choose "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" then browse to the VIDEO_TS folder on your Disc - select it and follow instructions and your video will appear in the timeline.

3. In the very bottom left corner is a little round icon with an opening folder on it - click on it and from the pop-up which appears choose "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" then browse to the VIDEO_TS folder on your Disc - select it and follow instructions and your video will appear in the timeline.

You may have to finalise the disc while still in your camera for this procedure to work correctly.

Actually, with UVS 7, you have to change the Capture Plugin first and then use "Capture" to import DVD video.

UVS 8 and 9 have a streamlined "Insert from DVD / DVD-VR" menu item.

The one thing I didn't do -- finalize the video. I'll try that now. I did put the dvd into the dvd slot but continued to get the error message with each capture.

I have a sony dvd cam. Finalize the disk and it works. Takes a little while to pull it up. Lists chapters and previews okay. When you try to import a chapter you will get several or the whole disk. PAIN-but Not to big of a deal since you can at least trim what you don't want.
