[SOLVED my own issue] ASP wont save or export any of my edit

Post by peter2012 »

Happy to say that I have solved this (at least so far as it relates to my own issue).

Poking around the forum on similar topics I saw that someone was being advised to export his colour space in his batch files. I was already doing that (Adobe 1998, the default in the JPEG batch settings) so I changed to sRGB, but that didn't help.

Then I noticed that the converted images produced by my website on upload were perfect, it was just when they were displayed in the galleries when viewing the webpages that they came out all murky.

So on the off chance it might work I decided to alter the batch settings so that I did not export colour space into the JPEG. That fixed it!

Pulling all that together and throwing it in the air and seeing where it lands, I figure that my browser (latest version of Firefox) doesn't like an embedded colour space in a JPEG. Just a theory from a non-techy guy. Anyway, SOLVED!

Wrong theory.
FF supports colormanagement just fine, but you need to set it up to do so. Easiest to do with the colormanagement plug-in.

cheers

afx, thanks and noted, though let's face it the average picture viewer on the internet is not going to think, "Must get that colormanagement plug-in," he's going to think, "That picture has horrible colours, I must look at another website immediately!"

Absolutely ;-)
That's why I keep repeating the mantra to export in sRGB for the masses ;-)

Didn't you just write that making sure your export is sRGB fixed the problem?
