It's because it features 2 songs. I'll try and upload it to a different site for those who can't view it.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
FWIW, I have just (fully) rendered your above project to a final Blu-Ray file with the following Properties:
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Frame-based
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 18000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Rendering took approx. 75 mins. It plays perfectly well on my 24" full HD 1920 x 1080p monitor. While I noticed some minor pixelation, plus some lack of focus and lack of colour balance in some of the photos, on checking back to the original photos in your project package and viewing them in Windows Live Gallery, the same artifacts were there too, so it was not the rendering which caused it.
The only thing I can think of which could be causing your problem is the lack of grunt in your computer. It is a dual core, yet for AVCHD you need at least a decent Core 2 Duo, and preferably something even more powerful. And a Core 2 Duo is not the same as the (older) Dual Core. As you noted somewhere above, you at one stage use 7 tracks, and that comes just a bit short of the 50% mark in your project. It could indeed have been that which finally caused your computer to spit the dummy at that point.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
Thanks for checking it out. Maybe it was my computer all along. As I mentioned before I split the slideshow into 5 minute segments (where the photos change from city to city) and it worked fine. Do you think my PC just can't handle processing that amount of images in the one go? I am investing in a PC dedicated to video editing in the coming months as I do a lot of it so hopefully I won't come across that problem again.
And the reason the photos had artifacts throughout was because I reduced the quality to be able to upload them. Back here on my end the photos are razor sharp
But thank you very much for taking the time to try and help me out. Much appriciated!!

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
AVCHD is currently about the most demanding format for users like us. Even on relatively powerful computers it can cause problems. A 23 minute AVCHD project is also pretty demanding in its own right, and probably too much for a computer like your present one. For example, I rarely produce videos which run longer than 15 or at max 20 minutes.
Your computer might be able to handle shorter videos, and fairly simple ones. When you got fancy with the 7 tracks at the 10 minute mark, it was probably more than the computer could swallow.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
I would have broken up the slideshow along "theme" projects, (like you did when you broke it into 5 minute segments (projects ?) instead of doing it in a one-shot project. Makes edit, etc. a lot easier. Once you are satisfied with a segment, export to the desired video format. When all segments are done you then simply combine them into the final DVD project. With the one-shot method you have to render the whole project every time you make a simple change. With the segment method, you would only render the modified segment. Using segment method it should also be a lot easier to create a menu where you could select each theme from the menu.nick2903 wrote:Thanks for checking it out. Maybe it was my computer all along. Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
Hi Nick
I also to managed to render the project without problems, took a little longer than Ken at about 90 minutes.
Did you try other options rather than 50p, the project being a slide show has little or no movement and a bluray option H264 at 25fps Frame Based I would have thought would give acceptable quality.
Project Properties
Your project properties seem a little different using 1024 x 576, AVI with no compression yep I realise this is Pal standard but I would have used 1920 x 1080 Microsoft Video compression.
Not really sure what affect setting the project properties has on the final render. We need to have the Pal/Ntsc and aspect ratio correct, (16:9) other than that I am not sure.
Chapter Points
The project its-self has chapter points added to the timeline, I guess these were used as markers, I would remove these before rendering, it shouldn't make a difference but they will be embedded to the rendered video file. This would/may affect the way you created chapter points when burning the disc.
Finally Image 186 needs rotating by 90 degrees.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
I'll give it a shot with 25fps as, like you said, I don't really need it at 50. I just wanted to keep consistency with my other video from the trip.
Ah yes i forgot about the chapter points. They were used as markers when I was trying to time my music so I'll get rid of those too. I'll give it one last shot. If it doesn't work, at least I have my slideshow that I rendered in pieces.
Thanks for your help Trevor
