Hi Nick
I can only agree with canuk that you remove clips itll you find the offending one.
Maybe you wont identify any, have you applied other effects to these overlay clips?
Can you create a Smart Package of the original project and make it available for download, maybe use 4Shared?, you may have to zip the package.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
I removed the overlays and it still stopped. I'm all out of ideas now.
I can create a smart package if you would like to take a look at it. With all the images and audio i'm working with its around 2GB though. Is that too much? What would be an ideal size to split the ZIP files into?

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
Hi Nick
Yep I guess 2 Gb may be a little large, even so I think 4Shared has a limit of 2 Gb
You should be able to reduce the size by using the images several times.
I assume it’s the images that are creating the large size?
Save the project with a different name.
Remove all images, then add 50, and repeat with the same 50 image till you have 450.
Render to see if it fails, if yes create a smart package.
The Smart Package will be much smaller as it only uses 50 images.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
I have transferred the project to a desktop PC which has a slightly faster processor and runs XP. Yet again, it stopped at 53%. So I cut the slideshow in half and started rendering a few minutes before when the slideshow usually stops just in case there was a problem with the music and/or photos in that section. It rendered past that whole section but it also stopped and came up with an "insufficient memory" error message. There is a dual core 3Ghz and 3GB of RAM in the desktop PC.
My next idea is to cut the slideshow into 5 sections of 4-5 minutes in 1080P 50fps and piece them together in another project file and try to render it that way.
In short, the slideshow stops rendering roughly at the same point on both laptop and desktop computers, and seems to stop around the 10 minute mark of the project. The photos/music aren't corrupt as I have started the rendering at different points. Is a 3ghz dual core processor and 3GB of RAM and 50GB+ remaining on the hard drive enough to render a 23 minute 1080P m2t video @ 50 frames? If it is enough, the only things i can think of is that windows 7 and XP cant handle the large file size (although it will be around 3gb) or there must be an error in the X5 software.

Hi Nick
Please double check the content of your timelines and make sure you have not inadvertently added a VSP instead of a video file. I would expect the top track containing the images to be ok, view the overlay tracks where the 5 or so video files sit.
Go to Preferences, (F6) change the display mode to “File names only”

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
Ok ,
Once more i am rendering one DV (1) video file , one FX to remove the borders about 30 minutes long and also here X5 crashed at about 30~40% rendering on mt2. I don't think it has something to do with pictures , file systems ( 40Gb file mpeg works fine , why not a 7Gb mt2 file ?) but with a problem in X5.

Hi dobje
Please give further details regarding your video file.
Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
You seem to indicate DV (1) type.
What are you intending to make, a standard DVD, a HD type DVD or video for the internet.?

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
SUCCESS! (Although I did it the long way which I shouldn't have to do in the first place)
I rendered the slideshow into three 7 minutes videos in 1080P 50fps. They all rendered fine.
Then I opened a new project, inserted those 3 video files, overlayed the audio and rendered it. Worked like a charm. The file size was 2.3GB
But that still begs the question, why can't X5 render these 450 photos in the one shot?
I am now moving on to my holiday video which will consist of 2.5 hours of 1080P @ 50fps (God help me!). I'm hoping that I will not have any problems with it as I have with the slideshow. If there are no problems, my guess is that X5 has a bug that doesn't process images properly. I will report back!

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
You mean you created a slideshow that is 21 minutes long and contains 450 images? That is less then 3 secs an image .... I sure would not want to watch something like that!

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
Of those 450 images there are probably 50 or so throughout that quickly flash up together to give it a nice effect in some stages. It's more like 4-5 seconds a photo. I've burnt it to DVD and viewed it with other people, I can assure you, it looks great! Maybe after I'm done wrestling with X5 I'll put a sample up so people will know what the project I've been having trouble with is all about.canuck wrote:You mean you created a slideshow that is 21 minutes long and contains 450 images? Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
I rendered my 2.5 hour video in bluray @ 50fps and it worked fine. It ended up being 17gb and took 23 hours to render. So I'm confused as to why the slideshow couldnt get passed 90 minutes worth of rendering. It's definitely a problem Corel should look in to.

Re: X5 Bluray render stops half way
Hi Nick
Nice one, brought back memories of our visit some years ago.
Did you ever create the Smart Package to find out the actual size.
I am still interested in finding the cause of the crashes but really need the project.
If I had access to the VSP project file, audio and video clips would be a start, I could then use my own images.
I guess its the images that is using largest MB.
