X5 Bluray render stops half way

Post by nick2903 »

Hi guys, I upgraded to X5 specifically for m2t 1980x1080 50p rendering but when it reaches between 50%-60% it stops. No error message comes up and the program doesn't shut down, just goes back to the "Share" screen.
I am currently trying to render a 23 minute slideshow containing only JPEGS, no video. After 3 tries using slightly different rendering settings each time, I tried a 13 minute video containing 50p Full HD video and that seemed to render fine.
I know it's not ideal but I am using a Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop but as far as i can tell it is within the minimum requirements for X5.

The last settings I used to render mt2 were:
1980x1080 @ 50 fps
PAL HDMV
Quality- 70
Video Format -MPEG-2 (also have tried H.264)
Video Data Rate - Variable 25000kbps

Are these settings ok? Or is my laptop not fast enough?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have exact the same with custom settings with m2t.

I have tried different settings but nothing really helps.

For my 5th attempt I tried the standard Corel setting for bluray which is 1920x1080, 25fps, frame based, H264, variable max 20,000kbps, but yet again it still stalls, this time at 63%.
Is there anybody with a solution to this??

Welcome to the end user beta test world. I think the solution will be a patch issued as the 1st service pak....coming in the June/July time frame. :?
Not sure how many beta testers Corel has for VS, but they clearly need a few more.

I'm a beta tester for another software company (Novastor). I dunno how many of us there are. I can tell you that they only fix "important" problems.

Hi Nick

I realise this may be a totally stupid question but what file system are you using Fat32 or NTFS.

My file system is NTFS. But i think I understand where you are going with this. Is it because the file size of the m2t render is bigger than what the system can handle?

I cannot see how rendering a bunch of ImAGES would be a larger file than VS can handle. IF so, this is an even more serious bug than I think it is.

Hi

Maybe I should have explained.
Fat 32 has a file size limit of 4 Gb, so provided you are not saving to a Fat32 drive then it should be ok.

Your rendered video to 65% I guessed would be approximately 4 Gb, other users have used Fat32 and the file being created is simply not saved. The render being terminated without errors.
Just as you describe in your original post.

The type of imaged, if Jpeg, some problems have occurred using Progressive types, right click an image and select properties, the Jpeg tab should indicate Baseline types.

The speed of your pc has nothing to do with creating the file, playback may suffer with a slower pc as it is performed in real time, creating the video file takes as long as it takes.

Ok I will run a few tests, first how many images are you using, their duration and any transitions used.

The problem seems to be related to the duration, 13 minutes ok 23 minutes fail, the duration being directly related to file size, now I am going round in circles?

Did you try checking on the smartproxy settings as well as updating the codecs on your computer?

There are 450 images, their duration varies between 3 to 5 seconds, 95% of the photos are followed by the crossfade transition. I am using 6 different music clips that are in AIF format.
I also forgot that I had two 4 second video clips in the middle. 1 was an mt2 file, the other was mpeg2 which just happened to be roughly half way through my slideshow. I thought this may have been the problem so I converted the mpeg2 clip to mt2 with the same settings as my project but no luck :(

I haven't checked the smartproxy settings. The only box that is ticked is "Auto generate proxy template" which is greyed out, and also "Enable hardware decoder acceleration" under Editing Process.
Should I tick the "Enable hardware decoder acceleration" box under the File Creation section, and the "Enable hardware acceleration optimization"?

I haven't updated my codecs recently, maybe 6 months ago. Is there any recommendations you can give me to what would work the best?

Just quickly, a big thanks to everyone who is trying to help!!

Hi

I have rendered 200 Images 30 minutes project to HD with no problems.

I can only suggest removing the different types then rendering again, trying to identify any problematic file.

Seems strange that the video clips are in the approximate position as to the fail.

AIF format, personally I have not used this type nor know if Video Studio supports that particular format?

Are you able to convert the audio to wav
------------------
Try this

Render the images and video files no audio to a new video file, use your output settings.
By the way what are you trying to make?
Add the new video file to a new project, add audio and render same as first clip, render should be pretty quick using the video file..
-------------------

Smart Proxy should not be a problem, most of your project consists of images, SP works for HD video types, you have only a few seconds of video, besides SP does not affect rendering.

Ok I will delete the videos and give it a shot. If that is the problem then I will have to work my way around it because my slideshow (which is of my last overseas trip) is timed to the beat of music. I have rendered plenty of slideshows with AIF audio before so I am certain that is not the problem. I will give your ideas a try and let you know how it goes.

Ok I am officially stumped.
I removed the short segments of video, I removed the audio, and updated my codecs. And it still wont budge past 60%. The only other thing that I could possibly change is that roughly 50% through the slideshow I have a 10 second moment where I am using 5 or 6 videotracks to overlay images. Thats the only other problem I can think of short of the software being buggy.

Oh and if this makes a difference, I have rendered the exact same project in X4 in bluray, but it is interlaced and only 25fps.

I would remove the overlay videos one or two at a time and see if there are any changes.
