ASP and bibble 5 is not very responsive when editing curve or polygon points in layers.
Sometime a point is "lost" when editing - I have to wait to go on ...
This is the only situation when ASP is too slow for me.
So my question is - to improve speed here what would help most:
o Faster or more CPUs ?
o Faster Disk (SSD) ?
I normally have my pictures on a NAS (NFS) and the Catalog on the local disk - I tested it with pictures on the local disk too but don't see much speed improvement when editing curve points of layer-regions
o More Memory ?

my guess is that ASP is slow there if your particular graphics driver is slow on some of the functions it uses.

thank you!
but no noticeable speed improvement:
starting in a console window with $ AfterShotPro -graphicssystem raster: no difference in speed here
message in terminal window:

Re: layer:regions: moving curve points is very slow
Hi,
I observe extremely slow layer-region-editing only when I´ve enabled intensive filters like NN, WaveletDenoise, etc. .... thus I decided for me to start with layer-regions before I do the noise and sharpen stuff (and if possible also any other plugin).
If noise stuff is already enabled I disable it for a while and then hopefully do not forget to re-enable it at the end
Not nice, but that´s the way it is today (at least on my damned slow 2.2GHz DualCore).
cheers
Markus

Re: layer:regions: moving curve points is very slow
thank you maggus,
thats it - I usually apply different settings, sharpen, plugins - and then I notice that it would be nice to improve special parts of the image ... apply settings there and than I see that the regions shape need further editing too - then moving points of regions is very slow ...
would be nice to have a feature too temporarily switch off (and on) all settings that slow down performance
but have a preview of the region still on
