WinDVD 2010 Pro Update Failure

Post by dxmc »

I bought WinDVD 2010 Pro in March 2010. Since that time a number of service packs have been released for my version, build 291, but every time I try to install one of these updates the installer puts up an error message saying that it can't find an applicable WinDVD installation, then it crashes. The faulting module is indicated as being SerChck.dll, which I understand is part of the Corel Common Framework. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the program several times with Revo Uninstaller Pro, but no go. When I googled this it seemed that others have had this problem but I couldn't find any solution for it. I tried contacting support, but they didn't seem to understand. The only response I got was to install Service Pack 6 but when I try that I just get the error message and crash.Could someone please take a moment to help ? Thanks in advance.

I was able to get a new installer from support and that appears to have fixed the problem.

Do you have the new installer? I have exactly the same issue and am becoming more and more frustrated with trying to get support.
