X5 plugin install prob

Post by Music-amg »

Everything installed properly, EXCEPT, Boris. Before I bug Corel support, I'd ask here. Boris installed fine in X4, just not showing up in X5. So I think, I may have missed it in the FX previews, but, I am pretty sure it is not there. At least, it is not showing up as it did in X4. Any Ideas? I have X5, X4 ultimate..

Have a look at this: http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... 4-Ultimate It may also work with X5.

Apparently, you can only have one version of Boris on the Windows XP computer at a time. X4 ships with version 5.3. X5 ships with 5.4. If detected, Boris will not install over the older version. You have to uninstall the older version and install the newer version. While I was waiting on info from Corel Support, all I did was copy the vft file from X4 to X5 plugin directory. (filename "Graffiti5.vft"). Which works.. Just have not recieved "official word" from Corel on reinstalling Boris 5.4. (5.3 shows up in unistall in control panel add/remove) Probably will be 1) uninstalling Boris 5.3, 2) re-installing X5, 3) copying Boris 5.4 vft to plugin folder of X4) but, havn't tried the solution yet.

"edit"

This is from Corel...

"Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support.

Please be advised that Boris Graffiti 5.4 is a third-party software bundled to VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate; if you have VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate installed on your computer which includes Boris Graffiti 5.3, you will need to uninstall first Boris Graffiti 5.3 before installing Boris Graffiti 5.4. After wards, you should be able to access Boris Graffiti 5.4, in VideoStudio Pro X5.

The serial number for Boris Graffiti 5.4 is already provided on the serial number field in the installation window of Boris Graffiti 5.4; hence, there is no need for you to enter a serial key.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

My issue with Grafiti o X5 is it doesn't like the license key that comes up automatically. Help button says second character should be an N and I have and X so I changed it still didn't get past license screen.

I do have X4 installed but this doesn't sound like I am at the point where have an older plugin that needs removed.

I have a question: does X5 still have a limitation for the maximum number of plug-ins that can be installed as Video FX or Transitions ?

Does the Windows 7 have the same problem as XP with both coexisting versions of Boris Graffiti (i.e. 5.3 and 5.4) being installed?

Hi Guys
I purchased the VSX5 Upgrade last week I too have the same problem and this is a new machine with no previous Corel installs.
When you select the Boris plugin to install the window opens input the info yarda yarda then shows the directory path as C; Program Files (X86)/ Boris FX Inc go through the motions hit install the Corel Boris installer window opens at bottom right showing a progress bar that does not move but the strange thing is the main window is now displaying the VS X5 programs directory path for the install of the Boris Program which must be the installer that is supplied with the program would have thought the first path displayed so you can change directory would have been the VS X5 directory.
Changing the path in the beginning to the same one that shows after the install progress bar opens does not resolve the issue.
In addition windows task manager shows the installer is running OK the Boris exe process is only taking 1% cpu tried giving it higher priority did nothing
So have fired off a support request to Corel for an answer.
Read somewhere a Corels response of Boris "being 3rd party" not my problem as Corel supplied as part of the purchase so they can't just wash their hands it has to be a problem with the installer so who created the installer for 3rd party stuff Corel or Boris FX Inc.

Hi Guys
Corels response was the safe mode install which had tried before I sent the email.
But finally got the plugin to install :) seemed maybe be a strange glitch with their installer and W7 64bit.
Cheers

You've resurrected a thread over ten years ago about X5. Note that the Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 System Requirements are "Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® or Windows® XP with latest service packs installed (32-bit or 64-bit editions)". That said, I had no problem years ago running X4 on Win10.

In any event, did you follow the instructions in "The Mercalli or Boris Graffiti plugins are not installed in VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate" (https://kb.corel.com/en/127721)?
